Hundreds of Borno youths join militia group to defend their communities(photos) by Arrewa(op):
Youths started forming these vigilante groups in June, 2012 in Maiduguri - the capital of Borno State and former seat of BH’s leadership - when they became fed up with BH’s incessant killings.

CJTF members patrol the streets armed with machetes, bows and arrows and sticks, identifying BH suspects, whom they turn in to the government security Joint Task Force (JTF). At times they also attack or even kill suspects themselves. Once a self-organized group, most members now receive US$113 per month from the Borno State government.

Borno state government is seriously investing in civilian JTF popularly known as yan Gora

In this picture below... They're protecting farmers in a village in Borno.

Re: Hundreds of Borno youths join militia group to defend their communities(photos) by Arrewa(op):
These are young men and women (Civilian JTF) that suppose to be in schools or their business places, like any other Nigerian, but because of the nature of where they found themselves, they joined Civilian JTF to fight against Boko Haram insurgents.

It's not by dancing atilogwu oh.

It's long over due, if the government can't protect it's people instead of waiting to be killed it's better they protect themselves.

It is not really by having a photo shoot, I hope they won't be as useless as the service chiefs and they will defend their land and people when the time comes.

This is a very sorry sight. People that would have been engaged gainfully in other sectors of the economy have no choice but to fight for themselves or be raped/killed by people who will in turn be rewarded by the govt with new clothes & N170k per month.

Arrewa na u get that big belle for dia so? shocked
Re: Hundreds of Borno youths join militia group to defend their communities(photos) by Racoon(m):
Imagine this youth becoming another band of armed militias tomorrow. So citizens have to take over the responsibility of govt? So why are the armed forces still being paid from the nation's coffers? Nigeria is now a failed state

This is more reasons why restructuring or disintegration have to occur so that regional govt can give direction, provide security & enhance development @ their own pace & not dependent on the centre.

it is well with Nigeria. We practically do everything for ourselves in this country with this government looking on.

How can a sane government leave the security of it citizens in the hand of the people.

what they are very good at is increase fuel price, increase electrical tariff and tax the living daylight out of the people.
posterity will judge everyone who made Nigeria a mockery to the world.

Kudos to the youth, I salute their bravery
