If the president’s tribe matters, which it should not, I think it would clearly be the turn of the an Igbo or other south-eastern person to hold the position in 2023. The north would have held power for 11 years, and the south west for 8 years. If we group GEJ with the South East, it would still be their turn since he ruled for only 5 years.

If we can get a very good Igbo president in 2023, their yearning for separation will gradually fade away.
If your knowledge of history is really strong, I doubt you would say this. Igbos' misuse of power in the first republic was the onset of the very problem Nigeria is still battling with. It's hard for the other major tribes to trust that same tribe with power.

I’m not against Igbo presidency, I just want to know how governor in each state in east has been able to lift his state out of mess.
Truth be told we can’t continue to listen to this old rogues. We are tired of their lies, what we need is resource control. Let every state manage their resources, then we will automatically forget about Federal structure.

The most important thing Nigeria needs now is end to banditry and boko haram insurgency.

Will Igbo presidency assure that? I doubt very much.

Nigeria is in deep shit!

cheesy cheesy Presidency is not worth it, i want to see the true dream of Ibos, their own Nation.
I want to see developed African countries, not caricatures, damaged by leadership and history.

unatryooh:
I think they should keep their presidency.

The current government has damaged the country so much that whomever takes over is already positioned to fail.

Igbos should borrow sense and let those that destroyed the country to fix it. If not before you know it they will blame Igbo presidency for everything that ever went wrong in Nigeria.

Nigeria don’t need Igbo presidency! Let the hausa/fulani and yourubas keep on ruling Nigeria and keep running it to the ground. Nigeria don’t deserve Igbo presidency, let Nigerians keep suffering the adventures of misrule by the hausa/fulani and their youruba concubine.
What Igbo need is to hold our elected officials to make good use of our allocations and invest in our people and region. QED

We have a two party system in Nigeria. Even throughout history, no one have worked in Party A and expect payment from Party B.

In 1999, the Yorubas in PDP got the support of the Northerers in PDP to get Obasanjo as the presidential aspirant. Even tho the Yoruba had more reason to be the aspirant in 1999 due to the death of MKO, the Igbos in PDP still went ahead to vote Ekwueme in that 1998 PDP Jos convention with Ekwueme wining 21.36% of the delegate results.

The Igbos have not sacrificed anything for the SW since the inception of Nigeria in 1960 and I don’t think the SW’ners should be under any pressure to sacrifice anything for the Igbos come 2023 in APC.

By 2022/2023, APC will hold her primaries and the SW will vie for the position just like the SE did in PDP in 1998. It is now left to the North to support who they think will protect their interest.

All these talks of Igbo deserves it does not hold any water, they deserve it in PDP but NOT in APC, a party they have stigmatized since its formation.

What entitles the SW to hold the presidency twice before the SE?

Because Jagaband helped PMB to win in 2015?

In 2023, it needs to be SE in APC ticket and in PDP ticket, as we all agreed for the SW in 1999.

What do you mean by this? What about an Igede or a Tiv or an Idoma man becoming the president?

What makes you think Igbos have more right to become the president than anyone else? What makes you think it is JUST for an Igbo man to be the president and UNJUST for an Igede man to be same?

People reap where they invest, Igbos invested heavily and are still investing in pdp, shown clearly even by their comments here. The most JUST thing that could happen is for pdp to hand them their ticket. Is that too much to ask?

Funny how some of you understand politics.

The only Igbo that is manageable as a presidential candidate in the APC is Dr Ogbonaya Onu. Any other candidate would be difficult to support.

How did Jonathan presidency help bayelsa or otukpo?

Better develop a japaaaaaa mindset

UK through school with the 2 yrs post study. You are assured of at least 3 yrs while you strategize where to run to from there.

Canada for the express entry

Other European countries- learn their language

All this rubbish talk has been going on for years.

I don't even understand the idea Seun is trying to sell here. Heck.

Giving SE APC's ticket is like handing pdp the presidency on a silver platter. It would be a walk over.

Just take a look at Umahi today. The same man they once exalted as the best performing governor in Nigeria has suddenly become the devil that must be vilified and put down by any means simply because he decamped to APC. Yet, folks like Sèun feel the party's ticket should be thrown at them.

Who does that? Even when Ojukwu himself contested under a different platform, they ditched him like he didnt matter at all. Not a single state did he win, not even Anambra!!!

Smh.

Politics goes beyond party rotation. If Yoruba didn't get the two major party slot in '99 the north could have voted their candidate since the average northerner doesn't feel guilt for an election babangida annulled.
