The economic situation in Nigeria has forced Nigerians to think that their problems are more spiritual than physical, and the only way out is the church. We agree that Africans especially Nigerians are very diabolic, but most pastors are taking advantage of vulnerable Nigerian citizens to enrich themselves.

So they organize church programs every week all in a bit to extort money. If they are not asking for tithe, they are asking for seed. Not like it is bad to pay tithe or sow a seed, but it should be done willingly and not be cajoled into it.

In the parish where my mum worships, they are always contributing money for one project or the other.

If they are not contributing money for the priest to buy food, they are contributing money for a seminarian or the diocese or one church project or the other. These are old women in the village whose only source of livelihood is from their farm produce.

Pastors Matthew Ashimolowo and Alex Omokudu live in sprawling seven-figure mansions while their huge congregations are told to hand over money often straight from their salaries.

Pastor David Ibiyeomie, the founder of the Salvation ministry with headquarter in Port Harcourt, during one of his sermons, said that he will never be poor again. He said that he has made so much money that he can never experience poverty no matter what happens.

This pastor built a church complex that can accommodate 50,000-seat known as ‘Faith Tabernacle’, which is listed in The Guinness Book of Records as the world’s largest church auditorium. In keeping with his Word of Faith guidance, Pastor Ibiyeomie commissioned the construction of a 426,820,sq. ft. worship center conceived in the shape of ‘The Hand of God,’ with five “finger” halls projecting from the ‘Palm’ of the Main Tabernacle. The compound encompasses the Youth Hall, the Children’s Church, the Kingdom Heritage Model School, the Faith Academy Secondary School, and the Covenant University facility, which accommodates over 7,000 resident students.

It's simple logic.
pastors will be richer while members poorer.

I still do not understand why people keep bringing the subject up. Those pastors living in affluent wealth, did they forcefully say you should pay your tithes and offering to them? Why do these online fools keep complaining as if they were they were victims.

Hmmm.....

The truth is tithe payment is obedience to God. Even if the pastor uses the tithes to enrich himself illegally, he will account to God.

Well that's what you believe sir and note that you said Nigerians not Nigerian Christians. And is our data reliable?
Also you and I know that the church is contributing positively to the welfare of this nation which even the powers that be are really gnashing their teeths to.
While the controversy is that the pastors are getting rich at the expense of the congregation is totally bull crap. But I will never argue on that as I am seeing it first hand, please note that I am not a pastor. Because I know that it is not easy to build a church to such a large followership and people will start insulting the sweat, shame and hard work some of these men of God had to go through to get to where they're now.
You know what? I don't even want to get started on arguments cos it doesn't solve much and it will shake the core conscience of those who are criticizing some of these men of God,oh right they don't have conscience cause it has been seared with hot iron
