I think it's due to the state of the security which is the primary responsibility of the state which the state fail on. installing gates in some street has help to reduce crime rates and provide check on the vehicles and people moving in and out of the community.
though if the government did not fail on its responsibility to protect life and properties I would support this moves 100%, until then........

That is because police don't misbehave in ikoyi, people build street gate because of insecurity.Government tax us to pay police yet we still pay vigilante from our hard earn money.

Gob bless you bro...here in lekki, this law won't work. from Eko hotel inward, you can by pass the toll gate up till jakande round about....you get to a point where street is been turn to estate bcus baba Alaye don build house there ...from Jakande,you can also link it to before Ajah, but gate every were

is nit about starting from Egbeda, i grew up in Egbeda, Jimoh str, baale, vulcanizer to Shasha down to idimu... thats not the issue, the issue is that mainland people might actually be the one to surfer this...i stay in lekki and work in marina and close by 6pm but i got home past 9pm atleast, some time 11pm....one way in and one way out, street turned to estate .... make i rest job.... a beg ,that woman wey dey sell esiama for bakery bus stop, akowonjo still dey?

Dumb laws u can not remove street gates which are ment for security purposes u can only enforce they are open during the expected hours or time frame.
