In 1988 the SADF was a mere stone throw away from Luanda...... However due to the fall of the Soviet Union there was no real communist threat to justify the continued invasion of Angola

in the entire 23 years border war only around 1791 SADF soldiers were KIA... That's less than 100 a year..... Compare that to 11400 SWAPO, 5000 Cubans, 10000+ FAPLA.... You get my drift
