How Did You Cope And Adapt With Work From Home Policy? by jaelz(op): 11:13am On Dec 11, 2020
So guys we all know Nigeria has never supported the work from home policy, but due to the pandemic most companies have made a total switch.

It's not being an easy task on the employer and employee's path but many have been able to adapt.

For me as a Software Engineer and Digital Specialist, I was able to set up a simple work station, get a generator and small solar rechargeable fan, buy bulk data and a good router and finally stock my fridge with alot of chops and chocolates.

I asked this because we might be going on another full lockdown again.

All those work from home are audio work only very few works can be done from home. It's during lockdown u will discover that being idle is its self a work.

As a freelancer writer, I have always been working from home. I have a tiny workstation which includes a small table (for my laptop, phone and a writing pad and pen) and a chair. I spend hours in this position everyday and sometimes a whole day goes by that I don't even step outside.

Better don't be unfortunate.

You and who are going on another lockdown.

Even with Nigerians lackadaisical attitude towards the Covid-19 virus, how many people did you see drop down dead in the streets or crowded public places?

Lockdown so that they can hoard palliatives against the coming elections.

Let them announce any yeye lockdown and see if October ish will not look like child's play.

Nonsense and looting agenda!

It's been good for better work life balance, but bad for maintaining optimal level of physical fitness and postural issues. That's been my main challenge.

Re: How Did You Cope And Adapt With Work From Home Policy? by Mayeldah(m): 11:36am On Dec 11, 2020
Its been nice! At least I am not facing the lagos traffics on a daily.

Though it has its downs, like NEPA effing up, No regular power supply, I have to buy fuel daily. May God punish Ikeja Electric People

By and large, I prefer it to rushing through traffics to work daily.

It's been the best thing to happen to me amidst the chaos in 2020. I haven't been to the office since March. Luckily, my company was already suited to WHF pre-covid so it didn't really impact our business and work pattern.

Initially, when the lockdown was announced, I struggled to adjust to staying indoors ALONE and waking up behind the same walls day-in, day-out. I had to ask for help from the office, lol and they appointed a buddy for me because I could spend weeks alone without seeing friends or family. It impacted my mental health. Luckily, I adjusted with time and now, I enjoy every bit of WFH.

For someone living in a chaotic and hellish city like Gidi with all the traffic & madness in the city, I only hear tales of traffic on twiiter or from friends and family. I have not even experienced traffic since Febraury/March...This is a big deal for anyone living in Lagos.

Now I want this to be the new normal. Luckily, I am guaranteed WFH till sometime next year.
