Cable News Network, Inc.(CNN) has objected to a Witness Summons by the Lagos Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution of Victims of SARS Related Abuses for its Team of Reporters to appear before it today, December 12, to give evidence on their reportage of the #EndSARS Lekki shooting.

The international news outfit said the
the Panel lacks jurisdiction to summon its staff since they are not in Nigeria.

CNN’s Lawyers, Messrs. Olumide Babalola LP, filed the objection dated 4th December 2020 at the Tribunal on December 9, 2020.

In the letter, seen by The Nation, Mr Olumide Babalola said: “Since the Objectors are not “persons in Nigeria” as envisaged by the provision of section 5(c) (of Tribunals Of Inquiry Law Of Lagos State, Cap. T6), then this Honourable Tribunal is, with respect, bereft of territorial jurisdiction to compel their attendance to give evidence before it.”

According to Babalola, the panel invited him into its Private Hearing Room this morning and subsequently excused CNN from further proceedings or appearing before the Panel.

CNN’s invitation followed its two-part report which claimed that soldiers shot at and killed peaceful #EndSARS protesters on the night of October 20 at the Lekki Toll Gate.

Iranu! What an impudence on the part of these yeye people? What do they take CNN for? Sanwoolu who speaks from both sides of his mouth?...or our military who killed the police team that arrested wadume the terrorist and letting him go after cutting off his handcuffs at the barracks? Or the same military who claimed they've killed shekau more than 4 times now but same shekau keeps mocking them on dated videos? Or does our government think cnn was Malami, the shameless Attorney-General who said those who invaded lekki and shot at those innocent, unarmed and peaceful protesters were hoodlums in military uniform, despite the gory scenes and military confession that they invaded lekki?

The greatest mistake our government made was that, they put people who are relics of a lost age like lai Muhammed in such key positions in government, someone who can't operate an ordinary laptop. The CNN, BBC and Aljazeera who covered the lekki protests from the beginning were using drones to cover the events whilst the reporters covertly stayed aside, gathering information. They're still wondering why and how they got those video proofs on lekki shooting grin

. This is why we must join hands in sacking all of them come 2023. They've overstayed their welcome already. We need to take our country back and move her forward. Enough is enough

They should first invite the governor to explain his role in ordering the shooting as alleged by the Nigerian army, there has also been many news reports that the governor ordered hospitals not to release the corpses of the shooting victims deposited in their mortuaries.
