SlayerForever:Ebonyi's airport is a very dumb, vanity project. But last I checked, this thread is about Anambra and not Ebonyi. |

Rocksvibes234:Owerri airport is more viable than Kano and Kaduna airport, in terms of passenger traffic Owerri is more viable than Kano follow by Eungu airport , relatively the two southeast airports are doing well by Nigeria standard |

Do you know that phones, computers, parts, accessories and others come through airport cargo, have you ask your self why most phone and computer dealers in Onitsha,Nnewi and other Igbo cities still go to Lagos for their goods unlike motor parts, building materials, clothes and others our people import through cargo container to east, I guess you most have watch video and see the stress our people go through to move their agro products for export to Lagos. post=97032831:Lack of an airport in Anambra is not what is pushing then to import through Lagos. If it was, the traders would have directed their air cargo to land at Enugu which is far far nearer to Anambra than Lagos and has an international airport which can bring goods from outside. |

They don't also know that with this international Cargo airport major retail companies and shipping services / Courier delivery like Jumia, DHL express etc will be doing directly delivery at the Anambra airport, instead of using Lagos airport they will use Anambra airport for goods and services being ordered in the east and the shipping fee will be cheaper. This Anambra International Airport will open up and boostAnambra and South East economy post=97032831: |

Enugu airport isn't Cargo airport, airbus or other big aircraft for cargo yet to land in Enugu, I believe since Air peace have gotten the licence to fly to China, Dubai etc he can easily deploy his large aircraft like 777 which he promised that it will land on the commissioning day, he will use Anambra airport as regional hub for cargos we have capacity, same as Air peace we don't need to beg any airline since we have son of the soil with the interest to lead the pack Maduawuchukwu: |

| Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by Cjrane2: 9:14pm On Dec 13, 2020 |
Why isn't Afam4eva arguing that since there is an International airport in Port Harcourt which is less than 2 hours away from Enugu on an expressway, there is absolutely no need for another international airport in Enugu. Instead use the money for building Enugu airport and repair the Enugu - PH expressway so that the journey might be shortened to even 1 hour drive. If you ask that, their argument will suddenly change direction! This is why Igbo pipul are the butt of jokes in Nigeria. They only think about their personal aggrandizement and not the overall good of the region. I am an Ogwashi man, but i don't feel an airport in Anambra will in anyway threaten or cause the closure of Asaba airport. They have different routes to focus on and different functions to meet. If anything at all, it increases the accessibility of Asaba by air. The same way some of you argued that Asaba airport will cause the closure of Enugu and Owerri airports if allowed to operate. I am still waiting for the day they will say Owerri airport has been shut down because of Asaba airport! Again, i ask, which state in the southeast deserves and desperately requires an airport to facilitate economic development of the region and Nigeria? Meanwhile, the same pipul losing sleep over Anambra have not extended the same silly argument to Ebonyi airport! Silly pipul. ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1Kt96NLhIs |

post=97035179:The airport in Imo state which is near Anambra is a cargo airport. Why is it not in use |
| Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by Cjrane2: 9:33pm On Dec 13, 2020 |
Maduawuchukwu:Imo state government has been soooooooooo unserious with getting permission for International cargo operations at Owerri. Even to enlongate the Owerri airport runway from 2.5km to 3.5 km to land large bodied cargo planes is treated as a joke by Imo State government. Most of the people in this forum begged Rochas to use the fact that Imo is the only APC controlled state to get permission for SMICA, yet they simply waved it off as nonsense. Anambra knows it's economy needs a cargo airport and they are making huge sacrifices for it. You should applaud them not throw obstacles at them because Rochas and Hope failed Imo people! |
| Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by TEDHorsePower: 9:35pm On Dec 13, 2020*. Modified: 6:38am On Dec 14, 2020 |
You are just arguing nonsense. Airport in Imo is a 2.5km runway which cannot land jumbo jets. Imo airport doesn't have cargo handling equipments, it is just cargo just in the name but no required facilities. Anambra international airport runway is 3.7km runway with taxiway, it can land the biggest jet in the world(Airbus, 777, Boeing). The airport is also coming with CAT-2 lighting systems for night landing, cargo handling equipments, etc. Maduawuchukwu: |

Maduawuchukwu:Take that up with the visionless Imo State gov’t! Why should Anambras’ fortunes and economic progress be dependent on the gov’t of another state? The only time all this una negative arguments would be tenable is if we had a centralised regional gov’t like we had with the East Central State! But that’s not the present reality is it? |
| Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by AmericanQuarter: 9:50pm On Dec 13, 2020 |
Anambra international airport runway is being asphalted. It is a very long stretch of 3.7km. APGA youths went there few days ago to inspect the project.

I don't understand the argument from other states. Is there any negative impact the Airport will have on Anambra or are you people just being selfish? |
| Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by Bkayyy: 9:58pm On Dec 13, 2020 |
IGBOSON1:I wonder oh. I'm I seeing right? Some people are judging our progress to why theirs is not working. So according to them, their airports should be saturated with patrons from our state before we get a "go ahead" from them to build ours forgetting that we are Ndị Anambra and we don't take order from anybody nor become benefactors of another. Infact we should have launched two Airports instead of one |

Bkayyy:MY INTEREST IS DAT THE AIRPORT IS PURPOSE BUILT AND TO WORLD CLASS STANDARD. I DONT MIND IF THEY BUILD THEIR TERMINAL BUILDING, BUT MAKE PLANS FOR THE GRADUAL CONSTRUCTION OF THE ORIGINAL PROJECT PLAN. ALSO, THE AVIATION FUEL AND MAINTENANCE HANGER MUST BE INCORPORATED INTO THE SITE FOR PURPOSE.

Obi1kenobi:With what is happening at the Lagos ports the costs of coming in from there may even surpass air freight by now, and yet importers will have to wait months to get their goods cleared. As opposed to getting shipments in few days by air. The speed of delivery is a beater any day. The ports over there in Lagos are struggling for breath now. Besides, there are several other things that can be shipped in and out by air at good comparative advantage. |

hammerDK:I don't know why you choose to be ignorant by asking the state government to maintain original plan when you know the agreement with Chinese investor didnt work, the project was estimated to cost over 2billion US Dollars then Under the contractual agreement, Elite International Investments Limited will provide all the funds needed for the project under the Build-Operate-Manage-and-Transfer arrangement. However under the same SPV arrangement, the Anambra Airport City Infrastructure Limited has allocated 75 per cent equity stake to Elite International Investments Limited, 20 per cent to Orient Petroleum Resources Limited and five per cent to the Government of Anambra State. It is a partnership between the Government of Anambra State, It sits on 1,500 hectares of land with enough elbowroom for expansion from Ivite Umueri to neighbouring communities such as Nando, Umunya, Otuocha, Aguleri, Nteje, Nsugbe and beyond. $2.2 billion cost of the project was unrealistically too high which Anambra state can't afford, when the federal government used $500 million to build four terminals. How can the federal government borrow $400 million from the Chinese and put its own $100 million to build four terminals with repayment of $12.5 million every quarter and Anambra government alone invited Chinese to build airport project for $2.2 billion. Truth is that, those people almost duped the governor. We are unaware what their interest was because they did not take any money from the state government, except of course if they planned to use the airport project to amass land in Anambra State for themselves, the airport is now being financed 100 percent by Anambra State government.” The basic infrastructure we have to put in place is the runway and landing gear, “Heathrow Airport grew from terminal one to terminal two and now terminal five. Thank God Gov Obiano didn't abandon the project, the airport is coming with 3.7 km which is one of the longest runway in Nigeria and can land any aircraft, and the governor built the tallest tower so far, Gov Obiano has done well 3.7 km is not beans, t |
