My 550 does pretty well. City/highway driving.

Sits at 1400 rpm at 90km/h.
the low end torque is one of the outstanding features

I love this, I don't know why people are particularly about MPG in bebz not that it is bad afterall... The ML doesn't consume much fuel... Having driven a C class and driving ML, I don't see much fuel consumption and also when buying or driving a Benz , I think most owners are for performance and driveability not MPG... I think if one need the best mpg, they should go for a 2 stroke engine or picanto or that small benz A160, my neighbor drives that.... That benz looks funny to me
Lol @ 2 stroke .

If you drive a Mercedes and you're concerned about mpg , maybe it's not the Car for you.

If I want a fuel efficient car, I think I go for yaris or picanto

If I want a workhorse, I go for ML Benz or X5 BMW

If I want speed , I go for BMW tuned 3 series or Benz V8 engine probably AMG or Brabus tuned

Those that drive benz know what they signed up for which is handling, driveability and durability.... Benz fuel economy is still good... I drive a C class for years and trust me that car especially the Elegance got sokee great fuel economy

Exactly that is my point... It's like when you drive a BMW, Jaguar or Range and the person is talking MPG that is funny... Benz drivers don't say things like that ! They have come to understand that driving cars is more than taking one from point A to point B

If one is so particular about MPG, a 2stroke engine or keke would do ... Maybe a picanto

MPG up and down should be left in Corollas, Mazdas and Nissans conversation

A BMW owner, Benz owner or even Volvo owner , Range owner , Jaguar owner these people don't dwell in MPG blablabla.... They dwell in handling, comfort, drivability etc... First car was a Nissan and I know the difference.... Benz MPG is good but owners don't dwell on that aspect

hello house, pls how do I know if the airflow(mass airflow sensor) of a w203 is faulty?

in this case, its not brings black smoke from the exhaust.

but its consuming fuel at a very very high rate.

10litres of fuel goes for less than 10km.

dear kuntash and other gurus, pls be of help.

Air mass is one hard thing to discover in Benz... But you will know if it's a car that you have been driving, apart from fuel consumption , the movement of the case will not be smooth... The best bet change the air mass... Get original Bosch... It is hard though, getting a good one but if you are lucky once you get it fixed...

You will know from the movement and the sound when you rev or on high speed ... The movement will not be fluid apart from rich burning

Though you haven’t told us if u are going for toks or fairly used. However anyone u go for ensure that you use the recommended oils. Avoid flooded areas too. Take care of it properly and you will enjoy it.

NB: Don’t go for a fairly used that has been abused or else you may end up regretting what u bought. You know some Nigerians don’t have maintenance culture. .

Story story

I apreciate if you guys can post answers in my thread

https://www.nairaland.com/6307465/g-wagon-restoration-car-guru

I recently bought a W640 G230 Mercedes benz, unfortunately the car was vandalized by the previous owner who installed a mb M111 (C class 4cylinder engine in the car) oviosly the engine has no power to pull this car, i am a lover of vintage cars and i want to restore this car, the interior of the car is destroyed so i will fix a custom dashboard and center console,so i am flexible in terms of The Instrument Clauster.

I'll do body work, upholstery and painting after the mechanical part

I was told by some kazeems to install a nissan patrol engine so that the 4 wheel drive option will be restored unto the car for me it's not an option ( i searched the internet) and some people have successfully done that swap but its a cabŕeuttor eingine and that's a no no for me

So i searched further and i saw a build with a Toyota Jz1 in Indonesia mad fast and looked very good i don't know how realistic that kind of swap is in Nigeria.

I have a friend in SA who put a Mitsubishi engine in his G, he doesn't know much about cars so he couldn't tell me very much about how it was done but again i have heared of keke engine inside camery and i don't want that kind of something

Last but not least i was considering a M104 ( from a S class) the issue is still that this were rear wheel drives as far as i know so i don't know how well that will drive and look? Also the transmittion inside the car will also work with this engine, i guess? Since the M104 is like a 6 cylinder version of the M111?

Is there any way i can get ECU,OBD and co to work? Probably not but may be atleast the check engine, oil and other lamps

IKENNA / GAZZUZZ AND CO ABEG COME AND HELP A BROTHER

disclaimer: i am a car dealer but i don't have any kind of training as a mechanic or anything automotive related just the little exprience I've gathered my young life, so please speak english i can understand lol.

I use V6. 5k fuel weekly. My colleague's Corolla uses 4500 weekly. But V8 is orgasmic...it is mechanical sex

what is wrong with you guys complaining about fuel and Benz? These two are not supposed to be in the same sentence.

If you are buying Benz, don’t think about fuel consumption. If you are thinking about fuel consumption, don’t think about Benz.

You are right about the fuel issue. When driving a MB forget fuel and enjoy the moment. Enjoy the performance and comfort.

Hello all. I'm planning on getting a Benz Ml350 soon. But I am based in Kano. Is it wise to buy a benz in Kano with regards to benz specialists? Thanks.
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by IkpuMmadu: 3:12pm On Dec 15, 2020
I’ve owned a few Mercedes cars over the years, I have moved to other brands but always come back, my Grand Father was a big fan of the star, and I guess it rubbed off on to me as well.

Now it has not been plain sailing, as ownership of any vehicle can be problematic, but you have to weigh up the pros and cons, and for me the positives outweigh the negatives.

My first drive of a Mercedes was in a LHD (I live in the UK) W126 300SEL, or S300 depending on where you are in the world, I was just 20 years old and it was used for wedding hire in the family business, oh the fun I had in that car, and the amount of times I was pulled over on a Friday night by the Police…

A family friend at the time had a black 500SL from the same era, and it always evoked a passionate response when I saw it, never got to drive for shame

The first Mercedes I owned was a W210 E240, It was a Avantgard spec, in silver and oddly had no leather, it wasn't quick, but adequate in its power, what I loved was I could drive for hours and still feel fresh getting out, it looked great, it had a presence about it.

The next Mercedes I bought was a SLK 230 Kompressor, now this was quick, and despite my height of 6′2″ I fitted nicely in the car, it was a sheer joy to drive, fast or slow… I had her 3 weeks and a Volvo decided that parking in my O/S at 50mph was a good idea, even though I had the roof down at the time, I came away with nothing more than a bump on the head and a very sore ankle, the Volvo required the passengers to be cut free.

After this I changed to a jap 4x4, and it did me proud, but it didn't stir my soul like the SLK, it was practical at least.

I had a few cars from other makes, but 2 years ago I found my self in the financial postion to treat my self, and purchased a CLK 220d (2005) - Black leather, aluminum & Carbon trim, I loved that car, it made me feel good just looking at it, let alone driving it, over the next 2 years I put 80′000 miles more on to it, I also had it remapped, custom exhaust and few other tweaks to the turbo and brakes, but I kept it looking factory. She cost a lot in repairs, but she was driven very hard & covered a lot of miles, she is sat out side my office for sale at the moment, and I still think she is damn fine looking car.

I replaced the CLK with a CLS320 as I wanted some thing larger but still with that coupe look, its cream leather and wood, its much quicker than the CLK, but far more relaxed.

The final out come is this, it doesn't matter the age of the car, or really its type or spec, Mercedes make me feel good, I don't care its not a AMG, or that I could have a newer one, what matters is that I feel at home in them, BMW I find too harsh, maybe when I was younger I would of been more at home in one,but I also find them a little spartan even, and Audi is just dull to me on the inside (Outside styling I love the A5)

Owning a Mercedes is not going to be cheap, but if you want some thing that is more than a means of getting A to B, some thing that excites you, an extension of yourself then you need to buy a car with your heart and not your head.

And for me, the heart says Mercedes

read the review on top from a benz user .... It is not a Japanese .. it's a car for men not boys

So have this in mind... ML is an amazing SUV , body on frame .. from 320 to 450 and AMG with Brabus

It's a great SUV and the 4matic in them is awesome
