From what the LGA chairman said, you could tell he wasn't being sincere. How hard is it to put a demolition notice on giving them time to move. I'm tired of Nigerians punishing other Nigerians for no just cause.... With all we ve been through this year alone, every Nigerians deserves a break.

Suffer no dey finish here.. When you struggle to get some fresh air, they it off abruptly using different guise

All of you justifying what the govt did I don't know what to tell you guys but this is totally insane come to think of it is this the best time to demolish those shops? People haven't even fully recovered from the covid 19 saga then this, has any effect been put in place to complete the market where the traders are to relocate to? This is wickedness at the highest level let's call a spade a spade

Fact, those shops belongs to Igbos
coputa:
In as much as I hate being tribal in my comments,I have observed that when it comes to demolition of markets/shops in Lagos State,it is always done with ipunity and lawlessness by the government because ninety percentage of the shop owners in big markets are easterners.

Anaerobi:
that's what u get when the wicked rule....
When the wicked rule, the people suffer.... Lagosians have suffered under this Man no small...
will they give him 4+4 or they have come to their senses?
Lagosians have their sense intact and they will give the governor 4+4 as you put it.

We don't have to be emotional over a news item from saharareporters who are well known purveyors of fake and fabricated stories.

The results of the last by- elections in Lagos (just after the politically sponsored #endsars nonsense) should tell you that Lagosians are voting with their sense rather than with emotions.

Demolition without prior notice to business owners, we are never taken as fools because we are not. whatever subtle means they chose to come, we'll certainly know their real intention.

It's all a matter of time, the Pharaoh and Egyptians you see today, you shall see no more.

they should have known that;

if all that happened before, during and after the Biafra war could not stop us, nothing will ever!

My only words to Igbos living outside Igboland, doing business, building mansions and developing such places should know that the fact that the lizard and the chameleon may both crawl on their bellies, that doesn't not make them brothers.

GUY UNLESS YOU DON'T LIVE IN LAGOS . IT IS ALWAYS IN DEC AND FEW DAYS INTO JANUARY THAT THEY DO THIS TYPE OF OPERATION IN THIS STATE. IN MOST CASES THEY DO IT ON JANUARY 1ST WHEN FOLKS ARE IN THEIR HOME TOWNS CELEBRATING THE YULETIDE. THAT HAS BEEN THEIR WAY.

Nigerians with their manipulation. The traders and their lawyer claimed they were not given notice prior to d demolition but d lawyers said he wrote letters to d Lagos state government, local government authority and some stake holders in festac about this 3 weeks ago. What was his letter about then?. Lawless and manipulative people.

400billionman:
That is how civil servants reason.

They see every business person as a rich man because they have never encountered the pains of running a business.

Can the LG chairman show pictures or video of where he pasted the notice informing traders of the impending market demolition ?

Or can he prove that when the bulldozers arrived that his team allowed traders 2 hours to remove their goods ?

You are devils in human form.

Sanwo olu should discipline his erring staff.
I think the report is contradictory, as a certain Onyefulu in the same report stated that he had sent letters to the Governor, Local Government Chairman and Festac Residents Association three weeks prior to the demolition.

lalasticlala:
Onyefulu said he had written letters to the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the council chairman, and the FESTAC Residents Association since three weeks ago, but he has yet to get a reply. This implies that the shop owners knew this demolition was coming, so they cant claim not having prior notice.

"How would the state governor give such order as some of the people are claiming? Our letter was delivered. I want to believe the governor is not aware of this madness.
I do empathize with the affected though.

The earlier igbo people realise that their investments in Lagos are not safe... The better!

It's time to really look inwards and make plans in how we want to actually leave the west within the next 10years!

If you grew up in Lagos and you still intend to bring your kids up in Lagos... I don't know what to tell you again!

Dear Igbos, we have probably over stayed our welcome!

Sue the ass of that idiot to Court until he pays all the money lost by the shop owners. Idiot morons that can not give their citizens a breathing space. Beasts in human skins, You people should muster courage, organize yourselves, Hire a very good human rights lawyer and sue the dirty smelly ass of that moronic local government chairman to court till he pays for the damages he caused. If it doesn't work that way, hire foreign assassins to assassinate him, don't allow that camel to go scotfree

He wants to rebuild the shops and rent it at an higher price. The traders would be fools to go and rent the shops again. Learn from vespa saga, the lg destroyed shops, built new shops at higher rent. Today most of those shops are empty
Yo are right about vespa...I grew up in vespa, the market used to be filled to the brim before the govt destroyed it and built new one, since then the market has lost its value
