Oil And Gas Industry Salary: According To Positions by Menh: 1:02pm On Dec 16, 2020
Introduction

Without doubt, the oil and gas industry is perhaps the most lucrative industry in Nigeria to pursue a career in. Given the natural endowment of crude oil in Nigeria, specifically in the south-south region of the country, the reason for this lucrativeness is not farfetched. In addition, in an analysis carried out by MySalaryScale in 2017, the oil and gas industry was confirmed to be the most lucrative industry to work in by employees based on the salary payment.

Also, it’s important to also mention that that most of the oil and gas companies in Nigeria are multinational and are not even listed in the Nigerian Stock Exchange all-share index. To this effect, most of them tend to pay their employees in foreign currencies. Most of these firms also have a salary structure that is designed on annual basis.

However, for better interpretation and comparison sake, we have decided to present these salaries in Nigerian Naira and also monthly.

He's right, oil companies really pay that high. In fact, amongst the international oil companies, Shell pays the lowest but is noted to offer the best training schemes. For instance, Total pays entry-level engineers at least 2M naira. Oil and gas companies pay their permanent staff in line with global practices because anyone could be moved from one location to another and the pay should reflect what the industry offers irrespective of location.

It's a shame that after 60 years of oil discovery Nigeria still cannot drill or refine it's oil, it's still under the control of British companies who don't even tell us the true quantity being exported.
If the Biafrans could take over oil drilling and refining in Egbema during the war I wonder what they would have achieved by now, the British were so alarmed that the ambassador asked Gowon to excise that area of Egbema into the newly created Rivers as Egbema Ndoni while the other side is Ohaji Egbema in Imo State thereby dividing brothers in their land.
I don't give a damn about the above salaries which is pittance compared with what the expartriates are looting in connivance with their Fulani cronies who control the levers of power and allocate oil blocks.
This is part of the reason why the Western countries led by Britain will resist some areas from taking over power in Nigeria nor restructuring of the country. They want us to aspire and dream of working for Shell and Chevron and see ourselves as 'elites' while the rest of the country lives in abject poverty. Nonsense and Buhari sad
