Frontpage Lalasticlala,Mynd44 we need Nigerian leaders to emulate the late Thomas Sankara of Burkina Faso and sell all the expensive luxury vehicles for a more affordable cars like Renault, Toyota Corolla,Honda Civics,Volkswagen Jetta.

They are in their positions to serve and not live a life of luxury like Floyd Mayweather in the poverty capital of the world.

I just confirmed what you are saying. This is why Nigeria is the poverty capital of the world and UAE is one of the most developed and advanced countries in the world. And Nigerians wonder why Aisha Buhari ran to Dubai to enjoy development by visionary leaders.

Nigerian leaders are even to lazy to open their own doors.

I have no problem if a Governor rides an Armoured SUV and has an Hilux Security detailed to the car, because an average Nigerian Governor that bought party tickets for 20m, and ran campaign jingle with over 100m can afford it

The very annoying thing I have a problem with is riding around in over 20 - 30 vehicles like a crazy person, Governor 20 cars 100 security personnel, an ambulance with doctors and nurses, a Toyota bus with Press Crew from major media houses

It is madness that was introduced by the democratic regime. This is not what Nigerians expected when they were campaigning for democracy.

Some states like Rivers,Akwa Ibom and a few others even bought private jets and helicopter's for their governors.

Fast forward to the present day when they use the most expensive luxury cars in the market:Mercedes,BMW's,Lexus,Toyota and Range Rover's.

The cost and maintenance of their high end security convoys cost billions of naira and to what end. How does this expenditure benefit the poverty capital of the world..
The way the states purse has been handed over to the governors in Nigeria is undemocratic. A governor/president in Nigeria can wake up one morning and order his finance minister/commissioner to transfer all monies in the state coffers into his account or that of his girlfriend and nothing will happen, apart from the EFCC using that to blackmail the governor into supporting the president in power. This is wrong in all fronts. In almost all the states of the federation, this has led to situations where tenures of the governors are characterized with basically looting of the states funds without doing anything to help the people.. The Rivers State governor woke up one morning and bought brand new SUVs for all political office holders in the state, just to look like a father Christmas! Billions wasted on a set of people who are already rich beyond measure. There should be a very strong monitoring system to checkmate these excesses. It's not their personal purse. The federal legislature should enact a law making it mandatory for every executive expense to be veted by a non partisan anti corruption body created by say the judiciary/NBA, NOT the executive.

It should also be made impeachable if a governor is found neck deep in such pratices.. Again, I think it's time we remove blanket immunity for executive office holders in Nigeria! It's not working! It's counter productive here. Maybe, it's working for other democracies, but the opposite is the case here. Governors and presidents should be forced to answer to cases of corruption and extra judicial killings while in power! A special process that allows for indictments before prosecutions should be created in order to avoid the whole idea being abused by political opponents. Ordinary people with sensitive information should have the constitutional abilities to activate this process. This is necessary because as it's today, both the judiciary and the legislature can easily be bought over by an overzealous executive to blunt any investigations, only for the chief executive to then proceed to loot and plunder under the cover of an amarphous immunity clause. The shameful display of opulence in the midst of want is wrong..

You said it all...they treat state funds like their personal ATM. I still remember when River state Governor woke up one day and just bought Toyota Landcruiser VX for all the lawmakers in the state.

The youths make up 70% of the population and still can't utilize their numbers to take over leadership.

You will see the poverty stricken youths hailing their oppressors as they move in their expensive convoys driving around their massively underdeveloped states.Nigeria has the most shameless youths in the world.
