Well, I don't think they deliberately choose to crash and pack up in December, it's just the nature of how it's designed.

It's an unstable system. Most people use it as a savings scheme; they put in money with the aim of withdrawing in December for the festivities.

But then, when everyone is withdrawing and there are no new funds entering the system to balance out, there's bound to be instability due to their inability to pay. This triggers more panic withdrawals but the problem is that there are no funds left, because the money was used to pay ridiculous ROI to people who entered the system before you did. Consequently, there is loss of trust by any potential new investors.
