If you are a real investor, no doubt you would have made some silly mistakes that really did affect you previously.

As an investor, you are definitely staking your money to get return on investment (ROI) but in the cause of doing this, you had fallen into some scams, unrecoverable risk or loss.

Going into year 2021, what are some investment mistakes you want to avoid?

This thread may help others from falling into the same ditch. Your experience may just be what someone else needs out there.

Kindly let your response follow this particular order (you may be creative with it though):

#1 Type of investment
#2 Period/ year of investment
#3 Cost or capital involved
#4 Risk involved
#5 Lesson learnt
#6 Advice
#7 Current investment status

Let's roll on, this sure is going to be educating.

I have never done any form of online investment, I do more of buying and selling but a friend has been on my neck to invest with Quintessential investment company and and get 25% Roi. pls folks, how genuine is this company. your sincere advice is welcomed. thanks

Personally, I am not really a risk-taker when it comes to investment especially when I am growing my money, I learned it not the best way of growing your money.
However, there are online businesses that pay really well like Search Engine Evaluator. I worked for them last year between January to April and I made over $1,000.

I have heard a lot about forex trading but I just don't trust the system or people handling it. I cant invest in something I don't fully understand how it works or something someone has to trade on my behalf. That doesn't add up for me

Forex trading
Synthetic indices
I lost 490k
I haven't recovered till now
I also lost over 100k on synthetic indices. That stuff is 100% controlled by the brokers. They've programmed it in such a way that they make maximum profit.. Since they switched from binary to deriv server. It's became worse

Not investing in Real Estates enough. This year, 2020, I invested just N1m in one real estate. And in 5 months, the property was worth N4m. I would have invested far more.
The investment is simple. We pull money together and buy swampy lands that is in the middle of developed areas.
Then sandfill it, develop and resell or rent out. REAL investment is what you can see and touch unlike all those unseen untouchable investments

*MODIFIED FOR THOSE ASKING ME TO EXPLAIN HOW WE DID IT.
We usually get atleast 10 persons. Then we all contribute a minimum of N1m. And we do the project. And the sharing is based on what each person contributed. It's simple as ABC. If everyone contributes 1m that means each person's share of the real estate is 10%. The last one we did most people brought more than 1m. Some especially the women brought 3m, 5m etc.. So we sold what we built in 5 months and the profits were high. Real estate far better than most investments. This year I must invest more.

I guess you invested in cape Town estate?

Read a lot here but right replies are wafer thin because of certain misconceptions. Funding any ventiure to which you have absolutely no control over the direction and thus destination/outcome is not investing but speculating. So the proper answer to this question should be what you regret doing in the course of piloting your investment and not the choice of the venture itself.

For instance it could be not reading the effects of Covid 19 on the Nigerian economy viz the inflationary effects due to loss of productivity. So while some were busy yakking about politics others were stocking up on tangible goods and more imporyantly selling the Naira in anticipation of devaluation, etc.

Don't try betting in any way. It's the fastest way to becoming poor. You can't make good money on the long run through betting. Talking from experience.

As for schemes that gives percentage on ROI, it's normal, they don't last, it will always crash, but what I'm about to do in 2021 is to look for about 3 that has physical offices in Nigeria and which percent is below 15.

Now the three won't crash at the same time, at the end of ten months, I've gotten my money back, and I will reinvest the money they gave to me and keep my initial money. I won't add more money to it in case they crash. Now if One runs successful for 2 years and two crashes along the line, I will still be in profit provided I didn't add add more funds.
