ASUU: Ngige Has Failed Nigerians, Remove Him Now – Elebute by Nobody: 6:23am On Dec 21, 2020
LAGOS – Dr. Tunde Elebute, a private school proprietor and member, Association for Formidable Educational Development (AFED), on Sunday, called for the removal of the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige over the lingering strike called by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Dr. Elebute, in an interview with Daily Independent, said it is unthinkable that the arrowhead of the government team in the negotiation for the reopening of 44 federal and 48 state universities is yet to achieve the desired result of the government.

Reacting to the various conditions and foot-dragging by the government, he said, “Consulting after how many months; nine months and still counting. It is like the federal government is not serious. I want to suggest the Minister of Labour and employment, Dr. Chris Ngige should be removed from office.

This is because he has failed the nation by keeping innocent children at home for 10 months. If you look at the Act that sets up each university, the universities are supposed to be autonomous.

“Why is the government and others forcing the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) on the workers? Of what advantage is the IPPIS to learning in Nigeria and the education of our children at the right time? That man should be removed as a Minister.”

Elebute, who wondered why the Federal government had continued to keep the Minister in office, tasked the government to employ a more pragmatic person and get the lecturers back to work immediately.

“Give them what they require to make the tertiary education sector vibrant and restore its glory.

“These people are providing manpower for the nation and all they have requested for are good welfare and revitalisation of the public education sector. The politicians are busy earning fat salaries and allowances that are three times or more the take-home of many university teachers. What has been the agitations of the lectures and the enormous workload on their neck to the thousands of students compared to what the politicians do to earn millions of naira?”

Ngige has been busy using hunger tactics on ASUU thinking they would yield. It is only making ASUU more headstrong on the issue.

Angered by Ngige tactics, they probably have vowed never to call off the strike untill all demands are met even if It will take years to achieve.

Ngige is a very useless person, he has been trying so hard to overthrown Lia Mohammed as the biggest liar in this country.

It is very sad that we are being ruled by these old men.

Ngige is the culprit here as I've often pointed out. If he tells the president to listen to ASUU today, the strike would be called off. But what do we expect from a Mushin boy in government grin

How did Ngige disappoint? He's just a minister and can only make recommendations to the president.

The real demons here are ASUU members and it's leadership. They are extremely greedy and don't care about their students. Can Ngige force them to work? They've approved UTAS but they are still not satisfied, let's blame the true culprit.

It's obvious ASUU is greedy, hell bent on cashing out from this rubbish government as everyone else.
Ngige cannot call of the strike on his own, he is just a mediator.
There are lots of blame to go around.
ASUU has a fair share for their selfishness and greediness, playing on the soft side of the public, one would ask, all the money they have been paying them from past governments what have they used it for. Left for me ASUU should be scrapped, their strike first ask questions later mentality is dragging our education back.

The Federal government has their own share of this blame same with the Education minister and all stakeholders. All these money they are paying to bokoharam and bandits is enough to pay off ASUU while they restructure that entity.

How much are these lecturers asking for compared to 81b that was spent on refinaries that did not produce 1 liter of oil?
I did not read the long write up but I know it boils down to money. Until these people take education seriously this country arnt going no where.

IPPIS is just a platform to pay and eliminate ghost workers,Our university are looking for another platform, they can use to put countless ghost workers and pay themselves double. They want federal government to pay them double salary when they go as visiting lecturers in other schools. But it's never supposed to be so.

Who has approved UTAS? ...The FG is trying every possible means of discrediting UTAS even with the shortcomings of IPPS.....IPPS is a foreign platform we pay to use and UTAS is our payment platform that is even free...ohhhh!! The gov't prefers wasting money abi..ASUU demands over a 100 billion and federal government is pricing it like Akara or pepper but they can approve contracts worth more than that amount and still not deliver the contract.... Lecturers are not paid well at all ..why do you think they engage in illegal activities just to make ends meet ...
