I'm I'm moving to Canada in few months time (3-5month) and I'm very confused on what to do
I'm completely broke right now, so when I get there I want to start something right away to make money to feed and do so many things. I plan to start studying after my 6months time

I'm thinking of learning photography in Nigeria, I would like to know how lucrative that is in Canada(Ontario/Toronto) if I should learn the skill.

I already have my sewing skills, and I'm thinking of starting that immediately I get there. I plan to buy Ankara, like 20pieces and when I get there start making children dresses and selling, but the problem here is I don't have any friends there and I don't know how i will start that immediately i get there
Then I'm thinking I should look for a job there, but I'm not sure I would get job immediately because they usually ask of Canadian experience which I do not possess and I plan to do that when I get there as well
Modified: I have PR already

Best thing to do is start applying for Factory jobs and call centre jobs from Naija just before you come. Doing a business needs networks and you cant build the network you need immediately you come which is why the job route is best. If you are not married minimum wage in Ontario should afford you a room and transportation and food to give peace of mind while you figure out your plans.

Come with your driving history from naija so you can be issued a G1 driving lisence. Then you take driving lessons and do the test then get G2.
Then buy your car and sign up for Uber. be sure to get the right vehicle though.

For Uber;

Driver's licence

Must be 21+ years of age. Must be a full G license or equivalent (G1 and G2 not accepted).

get a car loan instead. Pof is about 12k.a 2019 model car costs more than that. You can consider food or parcel delivery, you can use older cheaper cars for that

Hey guys.. I’m moving to Calgary early January. I want to rent a place for quarantine and stay a couple of months afterwards. What areas can I look to for a decent, safe and inexpensive accommodation. I don’t know anyone in Calgary.

All the items are good to go especially when packed properly. The only one out of the list that is not permitted is crayfish or any fish replica except you have to grind it into powdery form.

How do I get a driving history.

Your original Nigerian driving license will suffice. Upon landing in Canada, you will get a letter Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa- they will need your Nigerian driving license to get this letter. You will then take this letter to the DriveTest location close to you. After passing your G1 test, you can book an appointment for the G2 test immediately, just make sure you employ the services of a driving instructor(before going for the G2 test), even if you know how to drive. Driving in Canada is different from Nigeria-those road signs can be a little confusing.

They print the SIN number on a piece of paper and give it to you. You will need a sin number to work. Did you have any jobs in mind?

apply online after landing takes about 10 days. You need proof of address tho. Or you go to service canada after quarantine( with the lockdown they may not be open)

Hi Guys
If you a single man migrating to Winnipeg, Manitoba and you fall into the underlisted categories, please contact me. I can assist with initial settling down and a lot of information while we share my apartment.
CATEGORIES:
 A single man moving with the plan of getting married here or returning to Nigeria to bring his babe.
 A married man moving alone while the family joins later.
 You don’t have a friend/family to stay with for initial landing (Note, please take advantage of staying briefly with these guys if you have, it will save you some bucks as well).
 You are migrating as a student or a Permanent Resident
What’s in it for you?
 You can avoid initial hotel/Airbnb expenses
 You save yourself the stress of looking for an apartment and the background credit check process
 You have a direct source of information based on experience
 You can start saving costs immediately (Believe me, there are some expenses a new immigrant incur that you will realize you could have done it at 50% cheaper down the line)
 You can also save yourself the stress of getting furniture and basic homeware till you are married or ready to move to another apartment.

What’s in it for me?
 I get to share my rent expense with you
 I get a neighbour to share ideas with

PLEASE DO NOT BOTHER TO CONTACT ME ABOUT THIS POST IF EVEN IF YOU FALL INTO THE CATEGORIES AND YOU KNOW DEEP DOWN IN YOUR HEART THAT YOU ARE NOT EAST GOING AND ARE NOT READY TO FOCUS ON THE GOOD REASONS WHY YOU ARE MIGRATING TO CANADA

See you soon

I don't think u will but u can try. You'll be given some documents at the border when you "land". Ull need that when you go get ur sin at a separate govt office

Gurus in the house, does somebody really need citizenship to become a Customs Officer in Canada?
My brother who's planning to relocate needs an answer to this question please.

As with most things in Nigeria, a facilitator is required. I got an FRSC official to fast track mine.

I just feel like putting this out there for those, who like me at some point, are having doubts about whether or not to move (if Buhari is not enough reason) and that nagging fear of the unknown...I've just been here 3 months, so my experience is only limited to Calgary where I live and may not be broad-based enough, but I can say Canada is not a bed of roses, neither is it a bed of thorns.

If you're humble (and willing to shave off some of the ego that we're conditioned to back home), you will ALWAYS find something to do to pay your bills whilst you work your way to where you want to be, even during this COVID era. So if your concern is immediate survival, you will find something to pay the bills and keep you afloat. Just to give you a clue, between my spouse and I we pull in about $5500 after taxes on our basic jobs (that is we're not working in our fields yet) and we are sorted with change left.

Do not let any stories that you hear discourage you. For every one discouraging story, there are 20 stories of encouragement. Our paths are very different and unique. Keep your faith and optimism intact, Canada can, and will deliver to you what you work for.

Finally, HAVE A REASONABLE AND ACTIONABLE PLAN(S), don't come and coast.

Compliments.
