Hi guys, sorry it took this long.

Did not do covid test. No one checked my luggage in Lagos. Just went to the Ethiopian airlines stand, gave them enrolment letter, admission letter, arrive can receipt photocopy and I checked in my luggage. Begged the checker to put me by the window for all flights up to Newfoundland, he did and i just tipped his something. Went to have breakfast and then dashed towards the boarding gate. As expected, na only pilot no tax me. Plane left around 2. We got to Addis Ababa around 9.
Getting out of the plane, we rushed to the boarding gate to get set for Dublin. Plane left around 11 and we got to Dublin about 8 hrs later I think. This was so so long. There was quite a delay at Dublin I think because of logistics but from Dublin to Toronto it took us about 7 hrs. The journey was long for me as my max before now used to be around 5 hrs.

We got to Toronto, waited for about 30 minutes in the plane, went straight to border services, filled a few forms, showed our arrive can, boarding pass and passport and then we were directed towards immigration. The guy just came to us, asked us for passport, tuition receipt/enrolment verification, declaration form and admission letter. 10 minutes later, he called me, gave me back my documents and issued my study permit and gave me a paper to direct me on how to get my social insurance number, then that was all.

Checked in my luggage going to Newfoundland. It was still past 11 and my flight was for 9:30 pm so i just followed my Nigerian friends going to Vancouver to their boarding gate, gisted and saw them off at past 2. Then it was only me. This was draining. I then began to tour the airport and met a South Sudanese woman with whom I discussed the state of our countries and neo-colonialism. She's a Canadian citizen so she enlightened me a whole lot and when she realized i didnt have cash cause I was complaining on phone that i was hungry, she gave me 20 U.S dollars but the mumu me went to Italian to buy ham, bacon and coke. I forcefully finished it o.

Went to my boarding gate 2 hrs prior and saw a white guy. Moved closer to him and started a conversation. He was speaking fast so my accent also had to change. We discussed Trump, liberalism, Canada's plan towards development and economic expansion, American and Chinese trade wars and the beauty of data analytics in Insurance. A few minutes to board, we parted and he got to the plane first as per him seat be like first class.

I later got on the plane but when the plane paced around the runway, i think it began to have issues so the captain said we'd return to the gate and do a system refresh on the plane. It delayed for two hours. I sha know say after like five minutes wey plane move up, i don sleep. Before I know, e don remain 8 minutes to land. Landing was thrilling cause the journey from Lagos was long. I got to the NFL border, took my luggage, approached the border official, submitted my passport, travel declaration form and my GT atm card for indentification. She spoke her English and then freed me. I met my greeter and he put me in the cab but failed to tell the porter i was coming cause he was attending to two others.

The cabman dropped me and I knocked and knocked but nobody came through. I was just on a shirt. I languished in the cold, shouted for help but no one came through. I saw a car pass by and slowly approached the car and an Asian lady listened to me, asked me to wait and she called her supervisor. I ran across the road for like five minutes to limit the effect of the cold and then she drove towards me and gave me a number to call but that was when the other two guys came and the porter came around. I went in, called the greeter, fuckling blast him and he apologized. I was then shown my room and I checked in for isolation. I am in quarantine.

Any 4G phone will work regardless of if it is dual sim or not. Mine is a Xiaomi Redmi dual sim and my public mobile works perfectly on it

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by Rickywowoz: 4:18pm On Dec 22, 2020
If you just arrived canada, please start working on getting a Canadian driver's license. Car is a necessity in Canada. The process for getting a driver's license here can take up to one year. please even if you don't need a car now. GET A DRIVER'S LICENSE. I missed out on a dope internship because I didn't have a license at the time.

If you are still in Nigeria, get a legit naija drivers license. Most provinces will let you drive with your naija license but employers will prefer Canadian drivers license especially if you have to drive company car.

If you bring fake naija licence, you can get away with it in some provinces but Vancouver ICBC or British Columbia in general will catch you and you might get a fine.

Cheers

That might mean the speaking date is booked. Are you writing with British Council? Is it Academic or General? if yes just google ielts registration with Briitsh Council you should see the website. I will not be able to post link here to avoid being banned.

Hello Francisgodstime,

You can go to many European countries. Example Romania, Serbia, Estonia, Lithuania. But getting a permanent stay in most of them takes a long long time except if you go the marriage route. Jobs are also not easy to find (language barrier and not many jobs are available especially to foreigners) and the salary is generally not high. So you need to think about it before traveling.

Best wishes
Thank u

I searched Toronto on Airbnb. I then filtered for Entire Apartments. I then filtered for ones less than 54 CAD per night. I saw the one I liked. I look at the pictures and checked youtube and google maps streetview for the general area.

I used my dollar card to book it.

Hello Nairalanders,

Please I need information about the Form A platform, especially from people who have paid Memorial tuition fees with it.

I mailed the cashier office yesterday and they recommend I use GlobalPay student platform to make payment. As it stands, I don't have any idea on how the platforms work.

I could really use the information now as the deadline for payment is so close.

Thank you.

If you have a strong 2:1 (4.00 and above) or a First Class, you can apply to Masters by thesis programs and get full funding. If not, then I don't know of any other scholarship scheme that can work for you.

Good evening house, I just uploaded my IELTS TRF

I noticed they didn't create another space for me to upload new MBS as they didn't require it, but my balance has improved from $28k when I applied to about $32k now.

Do u think I shld go ahead and raise a web form to submit an updated MBS or just leave it since they didn't request for it?

Your opinions are welcome plz.

Good evening everyone,
Please I need information on the NSE route. Anyone with links can please share to me so I can read more.

Also, I'd be grateful if there can be short answers to my questions below:

1. Is a Masters in Information Studies programme (which aligns with one's undergraduate degree) a good course for the NSE program?

2.) What is the required POF for the NSE program?

3.) Is TOEFL/ IELTS required for the NSE/ Visa application?

4.) What's the visa processing time for the NSE?

5.) What are the required documents for the NSE program?
Thanks for responding.

I would personally go for a diploma cos it’s has more additional units compared to a certificate programme, so it’s usually richer in content. That’s why some diploma courses are longer in duration.

That said, they are both good options.

Spot on

Hello guys, does anyone know if family members are being allowed to travel/accompany students into Canada? I understand they also have to apply, but are they (family/accompany member) considered as essential travel too?

I will appreciate answers or experiences at point of entry. Thanks.

You will need to apply for approval before they can travel. You can apply for the approval after they receive their Visa and LOI

Yes you can. Your dad can also explain it in his letter of support (if he is submitting one)
