1. Don't bother about my load. Just 2kva capacity should do the job because a 2kva gen does it currently.

2. For batteries, I expect the person seting up the inverter to know the most efficient one that can support a 2kva inverter & last at least 10 hours on a full charge.

I put up my needs there so whoever is doing it knows what it entails.

like Ojeysky said, the fact that your generator can power it doesnt equal to the load you are using, getting an inverter or batteries for the duration of time you are talking about will need specific load - capacity calculations,

say you mention the number of fans, tv ... you intend to power can then give your prospective installer a heads up; else some person could just randomly give you a size quote and in the long run. you may be disappointed

The point is that without stating your load we can't help you as that is the most important need that you need to indicate

Is it just me or has anyone experienced that these inverter fridges block fast and lost their frost also very quickly once they are not powered.

Any good freezer recommendation that is able to retain ice long after power outage?

Do Scranfrost Sfl151m Comfort Line.

It's not an inverter Freezer, but it consumes 135W

These should do

lets assume your tv's 100 watts each, which may be very much lesser if its a led tv x2 - 200w
1 fan - 70w
home theatre; please confirm the wattage of this,
6 energy saving bulb- 120w (assuming 15w for each)
laptop - 70w
460w in total excluding the home theatre ( confirm the wattage of your home theatre, an average home theatre may be 1000w )

So if we say we you exclude the home theatre and your total load is about 500W

to run this for 10hrs

you may need 2.5kva inverter ; 48v ( 4, 200ah) batteries 14hrs backup

but if you are to run this average load 300 watts ( obviously you may not put on everything at once)
you can go for 2.5kva 24v (2,200ah) - 11hrs

That means it will start at around 300w before tampering down, right?

Yes. It has a surge. Can't say what the wattage is, but after that it reverts to 135W immediately.

Thanks a lot, I just read it's review. 120 hours of post power outage is an ambitious claim. I guess I will consider it then. Thanks a lot

Did you personally measure this power?

Good progress but not quite, can only make assumptions on this unless you state the specific rating on those appliances.
Assuming TV is 60w each
Fan 30w
Home theater 50w
Bulb 15w each
Laptop 60w
Total: 350w
For 10hrs backup you need 3500+(3500-(3500x.cool) which is 4200w. For 24v you will need 4200÷24 and that gives 170AH battery backup.
In lead acid world working with 50% DOD you need 4 units of 200AH batteries.
If you want solar with it then you can get 380wx6

Yes. I personally measured the wattage with my inverter when plugged only.

It's not because they are inverter freezers but because they are frost free freezers. To enjoy frost free freezers you must have regular supply of power because their technology is such they do not form frost(ice) so even when the get iced to a point there is an internal cooling mechanism that blows air and prevents frost.

Your last response honestly shut my brain down so I don't what to reply with. If you have worked out what can suit my load up there, please state the amount so I can negotiate/decide. Thanks.

@Pochettino

Guys here are asking for specifics to help you but you are more interested in getting a price quote.
With that mindset, an installer can rip you off or give a low quote with claims that he is giving you a 2kva system and then go ahead to install a system that will not last up to six months for you.

The details unicmarket and ojeysky went into may look unnecessary and difficult to understand but they are valuable info that will give you a standard system.

I advise that you take time to do some Google search to understand the basics of inverter setup so that you won't be at the mercy of installers (there are alot of half-baked installers out there). What is worth doing is worth doing well, even if it's on a small scale.

Most people here are DIYers and are not pitching to you, they are giving knowledge for free, you seem to think you have walked into market and everyone here is a seller and should make a sales pitch so as to be rewarded with your patronage, you should check that attitude!

This attitude is ridiculous and should be stopped. We're all here to learn, and even sellers here are not hungry people. Hence, I see no reason why you should put up such attitude.

Most people who answered you here so far actually aren't people looking for business but people who would relish seeing you get exactly what you need and probably come here someday to testify. They mostly have massive inverter systems in their homes and business places and would gladly welcome you to the world of Alternative Energy, away from the disappointing one our country offers.

The way you're responding is unfair. I got help and clarifications from here too.

It can be deduced you apparently don't understand how the system works. But when you included running the inverter for 10hrs in your first post, honest 'helpers' or even installers would immediately ask for the consumption rates (in Watts) of those loads. This is because, given the same set up, you cannot run a load of 1000 Watts for the same hours you would run a load of 100 Watts. This is the first step.

If all you want is to pay money and get a working 2Kva inverter, you can walk into a shop where they are sold and get a willing installer to install it for you.

But, except if you show him your loads and he does those calculations @Ojesky did and gives you a better quotation and subsequent services, you will be disappointed and still come here (or go elsewhere, or do a personal research) to get a better info and finally get what you want and more.

Then, in retrospect, you'd realize everyone here is only trying to help you.

This is ironic coming from someone who just offered "advice" to an absolute stranger he's had no previous correspondence with.

You should check your manners.

If everyone here (like you stated) does not offer services then a simple "kindly check elsewhere, there are no sellers on this thread" would suffice & I would be off to some other place for my needs not baseless assumptions on my intentions/personality. That is hypocritical.

Again, I never demanded anyone respond to me. I simply dropped my message as I did in several other platforms & hopped off. I believed that anyone interested would respond. You could have simply ignored my message & scrolled past.

Finally, your claim that there are no sellers on this thread is false. I just got someone from this thread who is willing to setup an inverter for me.

Goodnight.

Thank you. I'll reply you reasonably because you afforded me same.

If the response you deem "unfair" is the one where I said I don't understand a thing then you may have misunderstood me.

I was actually being honest. All his calculations/terms confunded me & I was lost so I didn't know what next to type. It wasn't an insult.

All I wanted was a price tag so I could negotiate & we agree & deal. I have no clue what 2000ah & 4, 200watts mean & I duly said so.

Hope you understand. Thanks.

Honestly, this is the most hilarious post I have seen on this thread.

If you know the kind men wey dey here, you go know sey nobody send that your monetary offer. What we do here mainly is dissemination of valuable tips and information.

If you dont get off your high horse and give yourself to basic study of the inverter process, this is what will happen to you shortly:

1. You will eventually get an installer that you, even in your present little knowledge, are far better than.

2. He will give you a quote of at least 700k to power those appliances you listed up there

3. In less than 6 months, the bank will will not hold up to 1hr backup time. Your appliances will be lucky to survive

4. You will then be forced to understand how the whole process works

5. You will use an alternate moniker to begin asking burning questions on how to do things better

6. You will then dole out at least 500k to step wisely create your own ideal system.

Baba, I no dey swear for you ooo...but I speak based on both direct and indirect experience.

Na here all of us dey dey wait for you.

wink
