If only you knew the origin of some of these celebrations like the way they brain washed people about pagan christmas, you would understand better. I thought JW follows the scriptures, why should they practice something that is not scriptural?. They have been condeming christmas holiday for long using the scriptures but they are shying from the issue of wedding anniversary. To make matter worst, their members( Nigerians) practice two weddings whereas the scriptures recognizes one
The last sentence of your statement only indicates that you're not well-informed.

Jehovah was the one who performed the first marriage by bringing Eve to Adam. Genesis 2:24

So as long as the parent/guardian preferably the father of the daughter has consented and given the hand of the girl in marriage to the fiance(man), they'll need to obey the law of the land by getting married legally(filling their form C and others) considering the local customs as well. Romans 13:1
Then the marriage is fully recognized by Jehovah and whatever they do thereafter is totally up to the couple.

He thought JWs are condemning others simply because we refuse to participate in certain holidays!
I just wondered why he can't just present a better performing Christian group that's practicing what he believes is Christian! cheesy

JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES separated themselves and stood out as an organized group claiming no other group is worshiping their God acceptably. Why not tell us the group that's not involved in all the things you thought is pagan?

Confusion is equal to insanity walahi! smiley

Have you asked who made such laws?. Secondly, the law of the land recognizes customary wedding so why two weddings?

So far as the customs and the laws of the land where we live don't conflict with God's standards found in the Bible, we'll fully comply with respect to both forms of marriages especially since the statutory marriage is recognized by the government. Read 1Peter 2:13

Traditional wedding which is the recognized one based on the scriptures and man made wedding ( borrowed culture from the western world). The western world doesn't celebrate two weddings like we do over here. The bible supports one wedding not two. Secondly it doesn't support wedding anniversary since it is unscriptural.

The guy doesn't even know what he's saying again. Meanwhile nowhere in the entire Bible did God set out any arrangements for marriages that must be followed like he did for true worship. It was a matter of choice on how to go about it.
So allow the guy be—let it just be that he's having argument with JWs.

Ask him what is the arrangement for true worship today. Another narrative will come into play.

The question is what does the 'civil authority' of that country God commanded his worshippers to be in subjection to Considered to be legal?

When two Christians marry in a way that is legal and recognized, that union is binding in God’s eyes.

Àbío! he also will join in the argument against JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES! grin

The legality of marriage as ordained by God is the consent from the parent of the bride and groom not man made tradition

rottennaija:
The video above listed 5 Pagan Practices adopted and used by JWs.
- Exchange of Wedding Rings
- Wedding cakes
- Flowers on Graves
- Wind Chimes
- Watchtower Logo
If JWs were to apply the same justifications for forbidding Christmas, Birthday and New Celebration to the above practices, JW members would not be engaging in them…
Do you Rottennaija confess to this forum that you're doing pagan practice the day you exchange wedding rings and ate wedding cake with your spouse?
Rott Wailer hypocrisy

cheesy grin grin grin

The Evidence says "exchange of wedding rings is an expression of " undying love and commitment" to the spouse.
Did Adam not express his love and commitment to Eve?
Bros, what is wrong with that?

Does the use of ornaments in Egyptian temples invalidate the use of ornaments for Jehovah's worship?

Because pagans used trees and flowers for idolatry, does that mean it's idolatry when Jehovah's Servants use it? Exodus 25:31-34.
1 kings 6:18,29,32.

In Egypt, it's a popular custom to Embalm the dead, did Jehovah's Servants not do same?
Genesis 50:1-3
Culture and Customs differ everywhere.
Wind chimes, flowers on grave (or rather, bouquet of flowers to bereaved, do not have any connections to false religious practice in most cultures/societies.
The principle of Genesis 50:1-3 &1Cor10: 31-32 applies.

Therefore, whether you are eating or drinking or doing anything else, do all things for God’s glory.+ 32 Keep from becoming causes for stumbling to Jews as well as Greeks and to the congregation of God,"

For Christmas/Annual birthday celebrations, Genesis 40:20. Matthew 14:6, Galatians 4:8-11 says SHUN Them.

Watchtower Logo is NEVER an object of worship.
Jehovah knows the importance of logo, Numbers 17:5.

Rott Wailer can continue to wail. No wahala cheesy grin
