Protect yourself yo... Yahoo boys are now focusing on Nigerians (sitting ducks) .. Apparently Oyibo don dey wise..

You can start by scratching thoose three numbers at the back of your card..

Two.. Set a sim lock.

Three.. never keep 100% of your money in one bank (even yahoo boys dey work for banks these days)
I personally keep less than 5%... The rest are in crypto and USD and they are guarded with four factor authentication...

Na who no sabi hum left from him right yahoo boys dey rob..

You ended up twisting what I wrote out of context to get cheap likes. First of all, where did I write anything about carrying physical cash? Your major account could be your salary account if you're a salary earner or your business account if you're a business person. Either ways, the cash is not physical! Geez! How difficult is it to understand simple English? Even ordinary uber that I drive, people hardly pay me in physical cash for cash trips again, they mostly do transfer. Just goes to show you, even ordinary 1k, people hardly carry these days. You can decide to misunderstand, it's your own cup of tea.

Do you know the inconvenience and valuable man hours going to the bank takes?
What of people that get trailed by robbers as they move with physical cash, some even losing their lives in the process.
The most dangerous thing to do in today's Nigeria is moving with large sums of physical cash.It should never be compared with internet banking.

I lost 141k last month in Owerri. I went to a Bar called Orange Grove and after drinking and eating I paid 21k because we were about 9 in number.
The next day as early as 7am I started getting debit alerts by 15kper withdrawal.

I nearly died that day!

I called the Bank and they were acting stupid on the phone. Then I called a friend that work with the bank and they had to block my account.

But before they could block the account, they fraudsters have successfully withdraw 141k from my account.

I went to the bank but they said the withdrawal was made online via one useless Portal. And then they inform me that I can't get the money.

I was terribly angry and couldn't do anything about it.

Nigeria don cast!!

It is so sad to know that in this country we have more TALENTED people that are working as fraudsters than we have in banking halls.

It is simple:
Have two or more accounts: Don't have an ATM card or internet banking on the account containing your major funds. While you can have ATM cards and internet banking on the others having marginal funds.

I actually subscribe to be idea that an insider in the bank helps fraudsters to defraud people. How can you explain a situation where most bank officials have turned beggars to customers. I actually feel worried seeing a banker stylishly begging me for money, people that can beg will steal if given the opportunity.

What I don't understand is why these cyber criminals do not put their skills to better use. Cyber security experts, ethical hackers and other IT skills are extremely lucrative these days. They could be doing essentially the same work, but for more honest pay.

Naija still dey learn work from USA, Pakistanis Russians etc.. But with the rate of advanced technology of the Western world.. Some of our yahoo guys deliberately make friends with bankers and those ones will do the job. Mind you. Those yahoo guys are based in here and they have the tools bought from the dark Web. So they just need an insider in the bank to release some accounts for them and they will. Do the rest. Its that simple.. We are to just be careful and smart too.. Those guys ar now coming home to steal, kill and destroy since its not rosy at all from abroad with covid and advance security of banks over there..
Our banks instead of paying their staffs and iCt well.. They put them under contract... Who does that??
I love the last part, one of the reasons Nigeria bankers are turning into Police

Deepweb gang, Chinese full there too. I think the authority concerned should ban Tor browser, it's used for crimes.
Tor can't be banned, it is it's good use too
Dg you know Tor was created by the United State government to anonymously communicate online. It later became a public tool
And Tor helps Intelligence agencies to catch criminals oo, thy simply setup shop on DW to catch criminals
Even if Tor is banned, there other similar tools to access the dark web, and mind it, the dark web makes up over 90 percent of internet activities.
Also note, deep web is different from dark web.
Deep web is like creating a site with offshore hosting and keeping the site from the public, and also preventing it from been crawled by bots and Search engine crawlers, anyone can create a deep web site easily

When you need to do big transactions from your major account, go physically to the banking hall, the cashiers will want to bully you into having ATM card and internet banking, insist you don't have a smart phone. They will do your transactions over the counter.
If they are obstinate, request to close the account and move your funds to another bank.
Never let them force or cajole you into doing internet banking and ATM card on your major account.

Bros you nailed it.

I opened an account with a bank recently where I have my major savings

I refused to go for any mobile banking whatsoever. No ATM card, no mobile app.

Other accounts house my family's weekly expenses.

Whenever my monthly pay drops, I split the money to different accounts.

Person no job me anyhow.

That's exactly what I do now. If any money from the main account where I don't have ATM nor internet banking activated should vanish, the Bank will have to explain.

You don't have to move physical cash
You can fill a transfer form inside the banking hall and transfer to your other account with which you probably have an ATM card

Most banks are guilty of the connivance, I've only had experience with UBA and then, I took up the matter and they vomit my money.

Two banks that are most notorious for ATM frauds are:
UBA and First Bank.
It seems majority of the staff in those two banks are Criminals that aid fraudsters.
They will sell your identity to the criminals who will then clone your card and they will even be the ones to alert the Criminals of which account is lax, unsecured or have big funds.
Most Bank frauds are INSIDE jobs.
But when a bank employs someone to work in its I.T dept or other back-end and makes them Contract staff for over three years, paying them peanuts, what do we expect?
It is actually one of the Ogas at the bank that sets-up an recruitment agency and then uses that agency to recruit staff for the bank.
The Oga can be collecting say #200K as emolument for each staff from the bank, but then pays the Bank Worker around #50K monthly, pocketing the remaining #150K and maintaining the worker as a Contract staff meaning he also collects their 'staff allowances".

The CBN and Labour must work together to ensure that they stop this nonsense of contract jobs in a bank and ensure a minimum pay for any person working in a bank. EFCC should also beam their search-light on the HR of these banks, a lot of criminality is going on inside our banks
You cant put a poorly paid worker in-charge of millions of Naira and expect he wont be tempted.
