Please does anyone know when VFS Abuja resumes? I did my biometrics on the 14th and it still hasn't been updated on my application. Does it normally take this long to upload it?

Thanks for responding

Hi team,

I arrived in Montreal 23 hours ago - on Turkish Airlines after stopping 8 hours in Istanbul - but spent the first 6 hours at the YUL - Montreal airport. A mix of Covid-19 protocol plus the crowd of students coming in this period made the queue too long. I can't do much reporting now as I am still jet lagged but I just wanted say thanks to everyone who has been and continue to be a part of this journey. In a few days when am well rested, I will return with fuller gist of the lessons from this trip.

NB: my phone and laptop batteries dried up while drafting this message initially some 15 hours ago. I have now been able to sort the recharging/plugging problem with the kind help of Frater.... So I add my voice to the advice that those coming next should quickly find a way to plug and charge their devices before or upon arrival.
Thank God for journey mercy

I'm not sure it should take that long. You can visit VFS Abuja from 5th Jan maybe.

My eligibility review started 3rd Dec, I was never asked for NSE, most likely 'cos I submitted the NSE docs before hand about 3 weeks after application submission, meanwhile basically everyone that submitted after me already got the NSE request. Meanwhile, they're yet to acknowledge receiving the NSE docs

Good morning guys I need your suggestions on this thing.
1. I got a company who's willing to give me reference letter, bank statements, sponsorship letter.
2. I have my parents sponsorship letter, land documents and a huge some of money in my account (10m, but I have about 500k before ) but the senders name is not my parents name, also I have a letter stating that my parents sent the money to me as my school fees.
3. There is a guy who's willing to give bank statements and others but his 29 years old and his into forex.

Which do you think I should go for.

Your questions are not too clear, I guess that's why no one has responded.
1. Is the company providing you the said papers only or they really want to sponsor you?
2. If the money didn't come from your parents, where is it coming from?
You have to be specific if you want the right answers/suggestions.

1. The company isn't sponsoring me, I'm just using there bank statements for the visa.
2. From a friend but borrowed

Showing fund isn't the main goal, the main goal is to show funds and give evidence the funds will be readily available for your studies. If you are borrowing the money just to print statement of account then it won't fly, but if you borrow the money to pay your tuition fee then good. All you need do is explain the source and show evidence of it as well

Hello House

Kindly look into the below scenario

I got an admission into a university in Canada (UG studies) and applied for visa. while the visa processing is on going i saw another school (cheaper) and i applied again.

Will it be possible to use the visa (for the first application) to attend the second school or one has to re-apply?

Thanks
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by Chocs(f): 4:18pm On Dec 29, 2020
None

For PR, you need to get points up to the cut off. It doesn’t matter whether the point is from a college or university. You can learn more about how PR works, just google “express entry Canada”

The points can be calculated using the CRS score tool. You can google it and try to simulate your score as well and see what and what you need to get up to the cut off.

Best wishes

Ok thank. But if i am to use to college route. What impact would it have in my pr application in the future.

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by Chocs(f): 4:20pm On Dec 29, 2020
Hello dewale1234,

You’re allowed to change your institution after getting your visa, you just need to inform IRCC of the change via your online portal. To read more about this, just google these words and you’ll see more “Change your post-secondary school in your account IRCC“

Best wishes

Is it the same course?
You don't have to inform IRCC now, once you get your TRV you can then change school.

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by Chocs(f): 4:25pm On Dec 29, 2020
Hello cruzydal,

Yes, he can be. But you need to show that he’ll genuinely sponsor you. He should write a strong sponsorship letter, stating why he wants to sponsor you. And he needs to show some commitment like paying your tuition and sending you the 10k cad for your living expense. If he has ever sponsored your education or supported you, you can attach proof of it to make his sponsorship more believable.

Best wishes

It can't totally replace it, but it can just be used on a temporary basis in place of the certificate. (I'm using my Statement of Results as proof of MA completion, pending when my school releases our certificates after its commencement ceremony this 2021.)

Hello Heffalump,
Apologize for the delayed response. There is no singular consequence. It goes same way as funding would go.
On a contrary, avoid external scholarship sponsored by some countries that's partnering with the Government of Canada. Most of these scholarship have a clause that makes the student not eligible for a PGWP.
I think most university have a period that's opened for scholarship application. Find this out from your school.
On the other note, most schools gives scholarship to student after the first semester or as the case may be owing to their academic performance based on in-person assessment from the faculty (members).

I believe you have your reason for not applying directly to a Thesis-based Masters which would have given you an towards funding.

Hope this helps!

Best of Luck

Thanks for your response bro. @the bolded, Does it mean when you apply for a thesis based masters program, there is already funding for it and you might not be qualified for scholarships?
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by Chocs(f): 5:24pm On Dec 29, 2020
Hello Heffalump,

Thesis-based programs involves research so they usually come with funding. You can still apply for other scholarships different from the one attached to the program.

Best wishes
