Well, not exactly going to hell except perhaps in the minds of those Stockholm drones who condemn Eve for opening eyes to bondage. Just my reading, or to be accurate, my book buying, rather still to be exact, my book ordering addiction is back.

I used to walk down streets with bookshops so I could go in knowing I could not walk out without buying a book. Then I began walking down streets with like 10 bookshops and go in every one and buy books. But now I'm on lockdown I don't even need to leave my home to find a bookshop and I think I seriously need help!

I will list the books as they arrive. You will understand better when you see what I ordered.

buda heard a knock on the door about 7am in the morning. To be honest, it could have been 9 but who the heck wakes up that early between Christmas Eve and a week after New Years, so buda did not bother, especially when the knock was not repeated. Well, buda just opened the door and just outside was the first book to arrive. Thankfully, its one that hides where buda is headed.

The Evening and the Morning by Ken Follett
ISBN 978-1-4473-7878-8 £11 on Ebay

It was people on this thread who compelled me. My gratitude to them is immense.

I dont know how to go about it. Whether to address it based on the topic or your write up that follows.

I will try to unify or sychronise it.
I grew up with this notion that " readers are leaders" so i try as much as possible to read whatever i can lay my hands on. You cant possibly decode how that went..trying to jorgle studying for a degree in chemical engineering and at the same time trying to find answers to life pressing questions.

You see buda, the real hell is a closed minded human being. Self improvement is a continious process.

The only advice i have for you is to define your terms and new words as you encounter them. Happy reading.

I got to say, buda is not reading any of these yet, in case anyone assumes. First, I go blind after an hour or 2 of reading, and I got to get through:

A credulous law student believed that “in addition to all his professional reading, Mr. Herndon read every year more new books in history, pedagogy, medicine, theology, and general literature, than all the teachers, doctors, and ministers in Springfield put together.” On his shelves were authors almost unknown in the Mississippi Valley—Kant, Renan, Fichte, Buckle, Froude. Perhaps he did not always understand what he read, but he learned enough to become a kind of frontier evangelist for transcendentalism, that Emersonian faith that the questioning heart could, without mediation of religion or authority, discern truth. He prided himself on his “mud instinct,” his “dog sagacity,” which enabled him to see “to the gizzard” of questions. What he saw encouraged him to believe in illimitable progress, and he greeted the unseen with a cheer: “The Struggles of this age and succeeding ages for God and man—Religion—Humanity and Liberty ... may they triumph and Conquer forever, is my ardent wish and most fervent soul-prayer.”

Son, do you know that there is an advancement from "new words" to new ways of thinking, reasoning and seeing?

Yes, hell is ignorance. That's why it is written that people die of it. The irony of your above though, considering over half a century of daily reading, amuses me.

Me, buda, my Lord? Can you imagine the stampede of the many dead who would love to be first? I see buda sitting back watching to see what the Lord would say to them all.

Felt like it I guess, or to keep track of books I ordered. Who knows hell, what contributors would do to me?

Why, by the way, do I mix you up with Martian? You think somewhat similar but different so aren't the same person.

The following books arrived today. Actually, they were at my door and might have arrived yesterday but since I never left home till this afternoon I'd never really know though I'm sure I was sent an email informing me of their arrival. Got to say that now I'm off the high of ordering them I can't believe some of them cost so much!

Local Government in England and Wales by RJB Morris ISBN 0-582-07151-8 £11.81

History of Local Government in the Twentieth Century by Bryan Keith-Lucas and Peter G. Richards ISBN 0-04-352071-5 £6.49

Public and Local Authority Accounts by LE Rockley Second Edition £3.19

The Nature of British Local Government by John Stewart ISBN 0-333-66568-6 £5.19

Party Politics and Local Government by Colin Copus ISBN 0-7190-6635-2 £15.19

They are all about local government in England and Wales which makes me wonder as it probably does you too.

Buda, have you read "Strong Medicine" by Ken Fillet?
It's a nice exposé on the multi-billion pharmaceutical industry.

Never heard of it. Read one by Arthur Hailey years ago though that sounds familiar.

I do not believe you asked buda to read a book for you and come tell you what I read. There's some peoples who do that, get someone else to read a book and tell them what's in it because they can't or don't have time to read the book themselves. The can'ts will be blessed regardless I think but the don'ts will get toothache and you pay tithes.

No, I have not read Strong Medecine nor do I think I'd find the time with Being and mission on my list.
