Acting President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo, has officially launched construction work on a long-delayed, 156km, Chinese-funded railway from coastal Lagos to the inland city of Ibadan.Just imagine, OBJ awarded the contract back in 2006 and left it dead, cold and abandoned right there on the drawing board. Yaradua didn't bother to look at it. GEJ accumulated more oil wealth than any administration in the history of Nigeria and still didn't bother to touch the project. 14 years after the useless, worthless and incompetent past leaders, PMB started and completed the project in less than 4 years without the huge oil wealth we had under GEJ and the presidents and leaders before him. To God be the glory. |

Putting things in perspective, the $2.3 Billion GEJ and Okonjo stole and gave to Dasuki too share with their crooked and corrupt cronies was enough to build 2 Lagos Ibadan railway. Sad.. |

Ugandatales:Yet some people will never respect you as a stakeholder and end-user. They will insist you must be angry, crying and cursing the government for "ordinary chinko trains" when the entire world has been enjoying bullet trains for 6000 years. Lol. |

NGpatriot:But GEJ built the Kaduna-Abuja rail and the Abuja metro line enjoyed by Abuja residents. Why are you guys pretending this is groundbreaking and has never been done before? |

when are we going to stop thanking our leaders for providing basic amenities with tax payers money? This is a normal what they signed up for and are meant to serve the people Stop thanking them it is their duty to provide basic amenities |

candidtalk:Wow......I'm dazzled by the "superior intellect" of a keyboard warrior who thinks Nairaland is real life. I don't really care to trade juvenile, primitive, small-minded tribalistic barbs with you. Just pointing out that only an "unexposed" doofus thinks Igbos is Lagos don't pay taxes and are "parasites". Also further exposing his primitive, parochial mentality by claiming we somehow nurse some "malevolent takeover/usurpation of political power from the Yorubas in their own land". Do you care to elaborate on this malevolent scheme of ours and how exactly we intend to carry it out? |

blueghost:That's the primitive conditioning on Nigerians for you. A guy who has buried Nigeria in more debt than several administrations before him combined to provide a few amenities must be exalted to god-like status despite the staggering shortcomings and incompetence of his administration in innumerable ways. I despair for the future of this country. I supported Buhari's election in his first term but his mindless sycophants are a special level of stuupid. |

People given only 20 naira by your late thief frogeyes, while all their properties and wealth were consficated came to your region and became Landords and you still have mouth to talk, I spit on your grave, you are an idiot withut an iota of shame. | Re: Wole Soyinka Enjoying The Lagos-Ibadan Railway. PICS. by Obi1kenobi(m): 7:14pm On Dec 29, 2020 |
Tekrify:Abuja light rail was about 90% completed by GEJ. Kaduna-Abuja line was at an even more advanced stage of completion. GEJ would definitely have finished them in his 2nd term - just as Buhari is finishing this Lagos-Ibadan line in his 2nd term. I despised much in GEJ's administration (which was why I supported Buhari over him) but pretending Buhari deserves credit for those is dishonest. |

candidtalk:Pray, where did i state Igbos are ‘more valuable’ to the south-west than other ethnicities? The fact you label a Nigerian that moves and settles outside of his region as a MIGRANT in his own country (a country Ndigbo/Biafrans wanted to leave for una in 1967, but your forefathers spilt blood to continue the ‘love-fest’)....the fact you call them migrants says a lot about your nasty, duplicitous and two-faced character! I suppose it’s lost on you the point i was trying to make about whose presence -between the two regions/ethnicities- has negatively affected your region the most in the recent past! What data/studies leads you to assert that amongst the Yoruba, Hausa-Fulani, Igbo, Efik/Ibibio/Annang, Ijaw, Uhrobo, Tiv, etc, that it’s the Igbo that are the ones who ‘don’t pay tax’ and are importers of ‘poor quality goods from China’? Care to share the links to such data/studies? In any case, assuming without conceding that your assertion is the reality on ground, doesn’t it say more about the useless state of customs and tax collection in the south-west in particular and Nigeria in general? This talk of ‘not employing non Igbos on south-west soil’....are you talking of big Igbo owned coys (like ones registered with the corporate affairs commission and who have 100s of employees or more) or are you talking of Igbo traders in the ‘2 by 4 kiosks’ that you normally use to mock us with? You have access to data/studies that show large Yoruba coys employ more Igbos than large Igbo coys employ Yoruba....or is all this a figment of your over-fertile, bigoted Imagination? I never thought I’d see the day when a so called ‘fellow Nigerians’ would justify the acts of xenophobia visited on Nigerians in countries like Ghana and South Africa! Pathetic!!! You talk of Igbos nursing ‘take over bids and usurpation of political power in the south-west’! I hope you’re not referring to Igbos availing themselves of the rights and privileges accorded them in the constitution to ‘reside in any part of Nigeria they so choose...and to vote and be voted for anywhere within the Nigerian borders’? Has any Yoruba tried to contest for election anywhere in Alaigbo and been visited with threats to his/her life? If so, care to furnish us with the details of such a misadventure? You imply that ‘minus banditry, marauding bloodthirsty herdsmen, the occasional Hausa/Yoruba fisticuffs in Yorubaland, and greedily cornering power at the centre’ that besides all that, the core-northern muslims are no worse than Igbos! Are you kidding me? The negative impact of the core-northern muslims in the south-west....Yoruba have experienced this in blood and tears, but when it comes to Ndigbo in the south-west, all you have is unfounded assertions, gossip and bile! Like i said before, your hatred of Ndigbo will be your undoing! |

It gets better. While enjoying his train ride, a young man approached the professor for an autograph and the professor gave him something to cherish for the rest of his life. How a wonderful piece of infrastructure created a memorable event, interaction and history. God is good.

While we celebrate this wonderful and historic acievement, we must not forget to commend Asiwaji Bola Tinubu for making this possible. Under GEJ, the SW was ignored across the board, GEJ not only ignored and hated the SW even though the SW fought, protested and risked their lives to put the same GEJ in office, he even went out of his way to insult the SW and their leaders, he called them rascals. Fast forward to Tinubu and SW's alliance that created the APC and installed PMB as the president of Nigeria, the SW is the rescipent of the largest share of infrastructures and investments in Nigeria. This is the most productive and strategic alliance in the history of Nigeria. God Bless Asiwaju Tinubu.

NGpatriot:Indeed and that's why I did not even bother dignifying his dishonest crap with an answer. Always playing victim and pretending to be innocent is the favorite past time of most Igbos. Shameless people. He should explain why, for example, all Igbos, to include those who have never set foot outside the SE, wake daily cursing Tinubu. |
