Good day house,
I recently applied for Visitor's visa for my wife and a year old son to visit SA. The application was packaged in such a way that my wife is working with a salary of about 200k naira per month( Salary was deposited in her account for more than three months consecutively) and a letter of confirmation of employment was attached, it was also declared that she is a fashion designer(that's her main job anyway), and she sew clothes for clients on weekends when shes not working, she also has some students she trains as well, hence, there were inflow and outflow of small amount of money(4k, 5k, 10k, 15k, 20k etc) frequently in her account. The balance in her account as at the time of submission was around 1.9m naira accumulated over time.
The person that invites her have a Permanent Resident in SA with good job and good pay as well, bank statements and even payslip of the person was submitted.

The application was rejected on the ground that "Bank statement Transaction lacks credibility" .

What could have went wrong with this application and what can one do in the future to avoid this?

Thanks guys and complement of the season to evryone.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. I might just register now and wait till march before traveling ( that is if there’s no lockdown). May God continue to protect us from this deadly pandemic.
samtol4:
Most schools have not completed 2020 academic sessions. Though on Monday school opens but no serious activities will take place . Some schools will resume academic activities Feb/ March. Plan your trip and let see what happens. The disadvantage of online learning is that it deny immigrants the opportunity of working while studying at the same time in SA and the advantage is save cost of accommodation .

It is unlikely that there will be physical classes next year or at least in the first half. If you're not planning to work [STEM] while in ZA and will be studying MSc (Research) or PhD at WITs, you can register out-of-seat and save medical aid cost.

It's a generic response
1.9M bank balance is enough to support your family trip, flight tickets alone will half that money and what will the family live on after travel expenses

Can you please elaborate on what you mean by it's a generic response? Why would they say the bank transactions lacks credibility? What could have went wrong with the statement ?
Are you saying that 1.9M balance is not enough? if you travel out of festive season, I believe one should still get a flight ticket of around 300k.. ......

They just don't want to issue her visa. Covid 19 is seriously affecting them. There has been a lot of rejection lately.

Aside the confirmation of employment attached, did you add any other document(s) to evidence the other inflows? was there activities like outflows on the account? its not about the balance BUT strong evidence of source of income tho! because those small small deposits would appear to the embassy like the applicant is being crowd funded to migrate! that's what they mean by "Bank statement Transaction lacks credibility" .

hence in the future....try and prove any payment in account you intend to use! one amongst the many ways to do this is by presenting 2 separate account. 1 as a salary account and the other her side business account.....(as you already said she's a fashion designer/trainer)

hope this helps!

Thanks for this tip... But yes, there was outflow of money as well.. But you are right , I think the logical explanation should be to separate the salary bank account from the business account... or in the future, just declare she's self employed backed by the business registration certificate and submit only the business account bank statement...
Not sure if I'm making sense..

The bolded is what I will recommend.
I may be wrong but as I was going through your first post, even before I read that the visa was declined, I already had it in mind that it is not likely this visa will be approved. I'm not a Visa Officer and don't know how you wrote your letters of self-introduction, invitation and other documents you presented but within the first two lines lines, I knew it is unlikely the visa will be approved.

Visas are denied for many reasons and the commonest is inconsistencies!
You said you "packaged" it? (inconsistencies do occur in the non-packaged ones but for the "packaged", occurrence of inconsistencies is higher)
Salary of #200K? (so many questions about this!)
#200K monthly salary is quite high. Where did you state the organization is?
Did you use the letter-head of the organization?
An organization paying such amount should have a website, an email address, a contact phone number, did you include these?
If you did, they might have tried to verify and discovered your claims were false.

Again, declaring that someone earning this amount is also a fashion designer during the weekend does not add up (in my opinion, though).
If you have said she has a shop or something else but being managed by someone else, that would have been better.

Thirdly, you started by saying you as the husband applied for your wife and son visitors' visa .....
Then, you said, "The person that invites her have a Permanent Resident in SA with good job and good pay as well..."
Is this person different from you because you actually presented them as separate!
If you are the husband with PR and good pay why didn't you use your bank details instead more so that you are the one inviting her?

Yeah, I don't what you wrote in your letters, but from little I could glean from here, I can assume there were inconsistencies in your documents.

Hi Qhunlay, I'm not aware of the thread you are talking about. I guess the 'CSV' means critical skill visa? Is there a dedicated thread for that?

The requirements are the same with normal visitor's visa except that your sponsor will have to commit himself/herself in writing to be responsible for your welfare with appropriate documents to back it up.

Modified
I assumed the sponsor is in the country you are visiting

Today makes it 2 months that I submitted my application for study visa and registration has started in my school.
Please, is it advisable I start sending mails now to the consulate cos registration closes on 15th March and I wouldn’t want to lose my admission cos of this delay.

My mum submitted her first visa application in October but got denied based on “Bank Statements Transaction Lacks Credibility”. However, to be honest, We did deposit a lump sum into her account from different sources which totaled 1.2 or thereabout.

A week after her first application was denied, we submitted it again without the inclusion of her bank statement but instead, with mine as her sponsor. My balance was extremely heavy with good activity on the account. This morning, she got her 4 months multiple entry visa.

Note: if you’re sponsoring any family member, ensure to include your birth certificate or an affidavit.
