To answer your questions, herdsmen issue is an issue of law and order. But the Fulani apologists chief among which is the president himself have managed to give it a socio-economic face.
The laws are pretty clear on land ownership and usage. Nowhere is land grabbing allowed under any ground in our laws.
Let's look at it from another angle. Imagine a farmer plants on a land which he deems unoccupied. Just a week to his harvest, the legal owner of the land shows up and asks to use his land in the next three days. Under our laws, the farmer can only plead with the owner to be patient and allow him some more days or he loses his crops. It sounds painful to hear but it is what it is.
Same applies to the herdsmen. I've seen them many times occupy the forests from where they go about with their cattle. Most if not all of the lands they graze on don't even belong to them. But after they graze for a while, they begin to act like they own the place. Same thing that's happening Plateau.
What govt needs to do is what the Benue state governor has done. Get the laws on land usage implemented. Instead of resorting to the propaganda of "the Fulani are deprived" yet the own guns worth millions of naira.
The govt needs to read out the riot act to these murderous groups and their enablers. That's all
