It should be the general consensus of every inhabitant for it should be established but it almost impossible for that to happen. If FG should get involved there'll be wahala for the reactions of non Muslims

One interesting thing abt u is the poor knowledge of Nigerian complexity. It's the responsibility of FG to establish the courts through the amendment of some acts which will enable the proposed states based on percentage to take part in the acts if emended.
No states in Nigeria dispense justice like most Northern states. Go to Kaduna and see how the system is; Muslim dominated parts have both shari'a courts and conventional while Christian dominated parts have customary courts and conventional courts and this is applied to many states with mix faiths of larger proportion.
Nobody stop any state from establishing their courts wether base on faith or tradition. You lack enough jurisdiction to enact laws in ur religion that is why u envy others. It's clearly stated that every state can adopt its own constitution base on their customs but I don't know why Sharia system is giving u headache?

Shari'a system has jurisdiction on Muslims only and if any Muslims state abolish something based on Islamic culture then u have to abide by the law of the adopted state of ur residence. We need to respect the culture and religion of others. But the religious fanatics and jingoist see all these as a pain because of extreme jealousy.
No where in Nigerian constitution where it's stated that Nigeria is a secular state, No where!

Those who want Shari'ah courts should go ahead and establish it for themselves, in as much as they limit their operations to personal religious/cultural matters for those who believe in their religions and Gov't is not involved at any level of their creations, finance and operations.

What then should be done when a case involves two parties where one follows English law while the other is shari'a? You wouldn't drag one to where he doesn't practice.

What if a non Muslim does or says something Muslims term as blasphemy just like what's going on in the north, and they decide to go by the tenets of their shari'a, what should be done? Especially with regards to how extreme they can be in their fanaticism.

The Constitution is the Supreme law.


Anyone convicted by Shari'ah courts can appeal to higher courts up to the Supreme Court

The supreme court doesn't just say anything about any case but make judicial pronoucement (with a force of the law) on cases brought before it.
