How can you compare USA to Canada? The US is better than Canada by far.

This thread will trigger an interesting conversation, honestly. I do hope the conversation would be healthy void of insults, thereby derailing the purpose for which the @OP opened the thread.
Here is my opinion, which is highly subjective. There are lots of individual factors that determine which of the two countries may be the better one for different individuals. The @OP mentioned some important pointers to him/her, but I will like to write about what I personally consider the most important factor.

First is the ease of immigration, and marital status. As of today, Nigerians are not eligible to participate in the DV lottery of the USA, things may change later though. It's much easier for a single individual to enter the USA and get a PR status because he/she has more options, including getting, EB Visa( after securing H1B), getting married to a citizen. Individuals who are married and have kids have limited choices to easily achieve a PR status in the USA. In summary, it's much easier to get PR in Canada either via the regular Express Entry or through the study route, which will eventually lead to having enough points for the express entry. So, for a family, Canada may be a better option for obvious reasons; while USA could be a better destination for the singles.

Now the factors important to the @OP:

In terms of hospitality, I think the two countries are good, but Canada is better. In general, issues of crime, police brutality, gun violence are less in Canada. The concept of being a BLACK individual appears to be downplayed in Canada, at least not as evident in the USA. Please, bear in my mind that some Nigerians do practice those things they accused of citizens of these countries. For instance, jobs advertised in a particular region of the country go to indigent of the states or regions first before considering the remaining slots, if any , to other Nigerians from different regions or state! So, in terms of hospitality, I think Canada is much better for a black person or other nationalities, too. It is highly diverse and more welcoming in terms of nationalities.

Job availability is the icing on the cake for the USA. The truth is there are more job opportunities for you especially if you have a PR status. If you are an international student, there may be difficulty in getting an H1B Visa, though. A highly educated Nigerian( B.Sc or equivalent, MS or PhD) with PR status in Canada versus same Nigerian with similar qualification with PR status in the USA; I think the Nigerian guy in the USA with PR status has better job opportunities. The only thing I want to add is that if the Nigerian in Canada achieves a citizenship status, he/she can work in the USA if he/she is in occupation that qualifies for the TN Visa which is renewable every three years 'perpetually'. TN visa does not require any employer sponsorship. Lots of Canadians are using this TN visa to work in the USA. So, the thing is if someone likes to work in the USA but finds it much easier to immigrate to Canada, such an individual should strive to achieve the Canadian citizenship, and get a job in the USA. Some Canadians living in boarder cities like Windsor in Ontario do this. They commute daily from Windsor to a work location in Michigan.

The economy of USA is sure bigger than that of Canada. The thing is Canada too has a good economy, and getting a good job or doing sustainable business is what individuals should focus on here. One does not need to be where the economy is stronger in this case.

With respect to health care, Canada takes the lead. It has a better health care system than USA, at least for now.

The quality of education is the same. However, cost of education in the USA is higher. There more funding opportunities available in the USA than in Canada. International students find it much easier to get funding in the USA than in Canada, even if their programs are non research -based. The education program for kids is the same; free from Pre-k to High School.

In summary, it depends on what every individual wants in life, and one's peculiar situation. The USA has a better weather in most cities as compared to Canada. One thing I'm sure about is living legally in any of these two countries as a PR holder or Citizen, may not make one a multibillionaire but provides a good quality of life and it does help to set up one's kids for unlimited opportunities. I'm open to correction in case of any inaccuracies in any of my submissions; learning is a continuum. Peace.

And you think it's easy to marry a Canadian citizen? The best bet for the Op is to go through education in Canada. If sh/e is brilliant enough to secure 100% scholarship, US beats Canada hands down!

Lol, I don't agree with this. Canada has a more accessible healthcare system while the USA offers more quality (but expensive) healthcare overall. It is not even debatable, most Canadians will tell you this.

I think Canada is better as per relocation, because presently, it's easier to get your permanent residency in Canada when compared to the America. Both countries are good, but you'll get your permanent residency faster in Canada since that's your main aim and motive

Sorry but spoon feeding in the Internet age esp in the field of doctors relocating to the UK is unacceptable. Nigerian doctors did not start relocating to the UK as at yesterday.

Understood, I know your moniker you have helped me with information about relocating for studies some months back.

I am not even science inclined but I can do some few research and give the dude the necessary the answer but if I don't have to the time I won't be pushy or being an asshole to the doc on forum.

He suggested UK to the guy; good. Then point him to the necessary steps, there is no need to make him look unresourceful. Shey you think sai dey just give am the MBBS?

Not every one have the patience or time to look through the process on the internet (that's why digital marketer are making it big), not justifying his laziness but I believe he can easily pay to get that info and felt that this forum should be more helpful to him. But dude saw it as an opportunity to point out how lazy the doc is without putting things in perspective, not cool.

there is nothing like hype or casting. Canada and Australia are the only advanced countries giving people permanent residency visa, you become a citizen in 3 years. With Trump wahala and Europe tough immigrant policies. Many are turning towards Canada. Many indians in USA also have Canadian pr as staying in usa is not even sure after their visa expires. Canada is taking highly skilled people who have careers and have worked a bit. Highly unlikely they will turn to crime and yahoo. I left UK in 2008, some of the people i left there are not yet citizens till now. No be hype na sense. I have ex colleagues on work visa in uk, they are doing canada experience entry too. ( in 5 years you only need to live in canada for 2 years to renew your pr too). Even assylum seekers in canada can work for up to two years before their case is decided. Any country that allows anyhow Nigerians in via student visa like uk and Malaysia did has themselves to blame. Canada rejected 83% of Nigerians student visa application in 2019. Many potential yahoo boys and riff raffs have been blocked be that.

So why is Canada overhyped but Australia isn't? ..the weather in Aus is even far better and there's more diversity there..
Moreso, as you've said below, Canada seems to have a higher rejection rate ..

Australia since April 2019 has changed policy a bit, they want people to go to rural areas and deserts. The points have become higher. So people have looked away. For Canada permanent residency they give majority of the applicants who provide the requirements they decide, student visa is a different type of visa and its not permanent residency (student visa is the common route for useless Nigerians and yahoo boys to get into a country). In 2021 Canada plans to welcome 400k plus permanent residents. Uk, usa and all European countries combined are not going to give that much permanent residencies.

even those claiming assylum in canada 97% of them pass through USA by road because Canada no dey give people visitors visa anyhow. The country needs skilled migrants. Those who fit those requirements are more likely good and sensible Nigerians.
