As far as I know, this is the only group (not sure members here belong to any whatsapp group). You ask whatever you wanna ask here and there are resources to help you. Also going for Fall 2021.

you deferred to fall 21, thinking the pandemic would be over then right?
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by kastgeraldino: 8:31pm On Jan 07, 2021
Yup. And my school maintained my funding and advised me to do so. I also felt networking would be challenging.

Please how can one respond to DMs on nairaland without using your email to reply? I've gotten several requests from people who want to send me an email message, but I don't want to use my email to reply so I usually don't respond to the DMs. I dunno why we cannot just send DMs directly on this platform. I find it weird.

Good evenings sirs and mas.

Please i will like to know the lists of schools that can offer full scholarships for Bsc students.(Pre med)?

Or if there's any link. I will really appreciate.
Bro the truth is that you have to search for this schools yourself.
And find the one that's suits you. Start with a simple Google search like schools that offer pre-med in USA then check the schools if they have scholarship options. Normally you will write and pass the SaT very well to be considered for a good scholarship.

collect 2 weeks extension letter from your school, while you wait for earlier dates to open up.

I don't know why my school isn't giving me this, even when I made them know others do it, they are adamant on me deferring to Fall, please what else can I do?

Visa approved minutes ago at Abuja Embassy
First application
MS Civil Engineering at UT Chattanooga
COA - 40k, Graduate Assistantship - 42k, no deficit.

January 5, 7.30AM

Got to the embassy like 6.45am, met a lot of touts outside. They kept asking me "have you arranged your documents? have you done this, have ou done that..I just ignored all of them. Went in around 7am. The cgi lady asked for I-20, DS-160, appointment confirmation and passport. She checked everything and told me my passport photograph is too small and does not meet specification. I went outside to take another passport for 2,500naira. 4 Passports for 2,500 naira!! Anyway I had no option but to take it. I went back in to join the queue

Met one black guy who checked passport and i-20 and collected the photograph. Next is one fine lady at window 4 where we did biometrics.. waited for another 30minutes before I was called to window 9.

Meanwhile the 3 applicants before me - denied, approved, denied. I have done mental calculation that the next in the series is approved, and that is me, (PS: the candidate after me was denied too.)

VO: Good morning, please pass your passport and I-20.
Me: Okay (pass documents).

VO; So what do you do currently in Nigeria
Me: I work as a Project Engineer with xyz company. My job function involves facility construction and upgrade, warehouse constructions, infrastructure developments and software deployment.

VO: Okay, fine. Why Tennessee.
Me: Ah Tennessee perfectly aligns with my research interests. I checked out a lot of schools online and spoke with a lot of professors, but this particular professor working on application of artificial intelligence and machine learning in transportation systems fits my needs. I will be working on developing models to predict congestion and traffic control.

VO: Okay, are you married, do you have kids
Me: Oh yes I am married, but no kids. My wife is currently running her undergraduate degree here in Nigeria.

VO; Is she going with yo?
Me: oh no. She can't abandon her degree. She will complete her degree while I am running my program and I will be coming to check her every couple of months.

VO: Good, what was your undergraduate degree
Me: I have a bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from the University of xxxx in Nigeria.

VO; Good, when is your program starting
Me: 13 January next year, oh sorry, this year.

VO; (pauses for some seconds and type furiously, I was praying and calling unto God in my mind): Your visa is recommended for approval. Take this slip, it contains instruction on how to pick up your passport. It usually takes 2-4 business days for administrative processing, but could be more or less. Thank you and enjoy your trip
Me: Thank you and enjoy your trip too (well I didn't know why I said that.. maybe it was joy lol)

.......

I was awake since 3am praying unto God and seeking His blessings. I believe it is just pure grace. Not by my power or might. All thanks to God. Please wish me safe trip to Chattanooga!

TSU?
Congratulations sir

January 11 is open in lagos, you might want to pay another MRV fee. Alternatively keep pressuring them. Tell them you've already booked your flight and you were advised by EduUSA to collect the extension letter.

I was asked to upload my financial information on my school account after I just concluded applying for PhD.

The required information comprised of who is sponsoring me and how much they are willing to give etc?

My question: could this inform the admission decision (though they said its not, that its for immigration purposes so they could prepare I-20 et al ahead).?

I have emailed them telling them I am expecting funding from the school but they insisted I should upload as much finances as I have for the postgrad.

This is kind of confusing. I need honest advise here

Hello Everyone I got denied my visa today in Lagos at 8:30 am. This was the transcript;

V.O: Good morning, where are you traveling to?

Me: Good Morning, I’m traveling to Minnesota, St Cloud State University for my masters in social work program.

V.O: okay, why St. Clouds

Me: I chose St. Clouds for two reasons. Firstly because of the amazing incentives, it offers to international students like cultural and academic scholarship of which I’m a beneficiary of and secondly because of the cultural diversity which is in line with my personal goals.

V.O: Have you ever traveled out of the country?

Me: yes I did to the US

V.O: How long did you stay

Me: 1 month on the first visit and approximately 3 months on the second

V.O: where you working or in school.

Me: I was on a summer vacation

V.O: where did you stay?

Me: Colorado with my aunt and her family who lives there

V.O: Calls the name of my sponsor (my aunt, another aunt with the same surname ) who is she, what she does, and where she stays

Me: I answered (She stays in Minnesota too) then replied that she is my aunt and she’ll be sponsoring me. She asked why not my parents and I explained that my Anty and my dad made a payment plan as he was going to reimburse her after she paid.

V.O: I won’t be issuing you the visa then she hands me a blue slip that says something about not having strong ties.

Please I need help from anyone who can help. This is my first denial on a student visa but my second generally. I already completed my fall semester online and I was hoping to resume by the 17th after an extension had been granted. Please I don’t know what to do right now, I can’t possibly defer my admission and if I reapply I don’t know how soon I can get a closer date. Please is there something I should have said or done better, do I need to change my sponsor I don’t know if that is possible.

Personally i feel your answer to why this school was very poor, no vo would issue you a visa because you chose a school mainly cos of its cultural diversity and incentives..
