What 100 dalasis will buy here is the same thing N900 will buy in Nigeria. The pay is low here, having your own business is the best

I have been reading people's post for a long time here.
I decided to contribute my quota.
Life was hard for me as a dentist in Nigeria. i decided to leave 2016.
I was earning 90k per month as a dentist combining with another locum earning 40% per case treated. I researched all developed countries as per practicing dentistry there.
The obstacle were numerous. Exam fees, low pass rate, tuition for re -enrolling.
I opted for African countries. Ghana was 1st option; exam fee was $700. I dropped the idea. I tried Sierra Leone, Liberia and Gambia.
Gambia was were breakthrough came.
I was offered a job of 1k usd as a full time dentist from Nigeria.
I migrated 2017.
I'm still in Gambia.
if you are a dentist hoping to leave. Try African countries. Migrating as a dentist is hard.

sorry about my write up.
i scribble, i'm no writer.

Wow! Yangil cool man. Nagadef ?

Nice one.

Less than 300k. Transportation was over 100k then (one way)

I think your one way was accepted by the immigration because you already have a job offer. It's normally Return ticket else the Gambia immigration will frustrate life out of the visitor. They extort Nigerians at the airport.

Pls is there opportunities for someone that learn plumbing and also have teaching experience in Gambia??

After My SSCE, We relocated to join my Dad here, I was a teenager then. Just like the OP said UTG is the only university in Gambia although there’s this American International University. Gambia is good for someone who has a handwork e.g Tailoring, it’s easier to make it and also for people like the OP who studied a good course, we have Nigerian Lawyers, Judges and Doctors here. And also Teachers that can teach science subjects.

Work in the building aspect is dominated by Senegalese and they are very good at it. But if you go it doesn't mean you can't make it. You only need to be really good at the job and be truthful. Then gradually you can make a name for yourself.

This is interesting, thank you for sharing your story. In fact, I think that a dentist is a worthy profession and if you are a good specialist, then you will always have a job, regardless of such circumstances as quarantine, do you agree with me? Well, a dentist helps people solve dental issues and gets a good salary and a patient's smile as a bonus. Also, everyone knows that healthy teeth are the key to health and a good life, so it's very important that you and your children get good dental care. By the way, our pediatric dentist recommended that all parents read this article and I hope that you will find it useful. I wish you all good health!

you can't apply from outside
you need to relocate
apply to as much schools as you can
especially during the long vacation
i'm sure you ll get a job.
2 problems,
cost of living is high
accommodation is expensive
if the problem isn't an issue for you. then you are good to go.
some schools pay equivalent of 14000 naira (2000 dalasis)
whilst intl schools pay as much as 70000 naira (10000 dalasis)
rent in urban area cost as much as 10000 dalasis per month depending on number of rooms
rent in rural area can be as low as 1000 dalasis per month
transportation is generally 8 dalasis per drop
nigerian diet is available in serrekunda market..

Please I want to visit Gambia this year for business,I am thinking of serekunda, any idea about rent and doing business generally. Please help a brother.
Thank you.

life is nice relatively.
there are challenges;
like discrimination towards Nigerians
its a poor country, wages is generally low.
medical doctors and very skilled workers
teachers get paid dependent on where they teach.
international schools pay well
Teacher are well paid in Gambia? I need to start saving money to leave Nigeria for Gambia
