Dear OP I don't think the FG did wrong in making an arrest for what you can term hate speech at best or inciting or offensive comments at worst.

However, we are in a democracy and as such there should be respect for the rule of law. The govt should have charged the guy to court and allowed the Courts handle the case appropriately. Detaining the guy for over 300 days without trial is unfortunate as the government is not supposed to the both the accuser and executioner. That's the bone of contention here. They should be able to trust the judiciary to be able to dispense Justice which I'm sure the courts would have done readily in this case as the evidence is quite clear that the guys comments were inappropriate and inciting. We all know that we are however not allowed to take the law into our hands and dispense Justice by ourselves. That is the bone of contention here.

The judicial process is slow in Nigeria and his being in court would mean his remand wasn't any case of illegal detention by the police but as ordered by the court.

His family need to get him a lawyer.
