NTA is trying to amass new viewership and more relevance commercially by digging up gold from their old treasure chest, and polishing it. Gold may be valuable, but also they need to mine their own bitcoin. Who knows they may trade with their 'Gold' to get 'Bitcoin'.
lets see how it goes.

Good one from NTA. Members of the old crew members who are still alive should be brought to feauture in the new series.

I am one of those who watched the village headmaster as a kid in the 1980s. But I have my reservations about the comeback of this show, one of which is its relevance to the present day structure.

When Village headmaster started in the 1960s, most Nigerians stayed in villages and the school headmaster was one of the important personalities in the community. As one of the most educated persons then, he had a say in the running of the community as the village rulers relied on his formal knowledge of the outside world to seek advice on some issues then.

Education was highly prized and valued in those times, especially in Southern Nigeria and many villagers did a lot to curry the favor of the headmaster and his teachers, who were highly regarded. Illiteracy was high and the government was expanding access to education with more infrastructure. Television had recently been introduced in Nigeria a decade before, so people marveled at the innovation and would spend time watching anything put on TV then(There weren't many people owning TVs in that period as it was seen as a status symbol).

Today, the situation is different. The typical headmaster isn't that valued by this generation as many people are literate. Majority of Nigerians are in urban areas. Education isn't highly prized as it once was. There is also a lot of competition for people's attention with cable TV and social media providing fresh entertainment at the click of a button on a phone or laptop, so a TV program has to be very good to command one's attention. Unfortunately, this has not been the case with many Nigerian productions. The best Nigerian visual content or series are actually online.

So I am wondering how relevant this show will be for today's generation. We have to understand there is a new generation with different tastes, aims and objectives, so you can't just bring back something that worked in the past and expect it to fly .New Masquerade made a comeback in the late 1990s and early 2000s but it was a failure.

The only way the series can succeed is if it's updated to reflect current realities. The comeback of most old shows worldwide end in failure. Those that have succeeded like BBC's Dr Who did so because they were updated for the present generation. Even at that, there are shows that are better left in the past.

Well, wishing the producers the best of luck but I doubt if this Village Headmaster reboot will last. My personal opinion.

Wait. So of all places to launch a comeback its NTA that they saw to use. NTA itself that can never make a comeback. They didn't see any of the Africa Magic Channels or Red TV or the rest. You see why strategy is very very important.

Well, it will still die again maybe even before it starts sef. They have just wasted their time and efforts because they have refused to be strategic.

Greta take.
.but on a personal note I don not understand the need for all this long term remakes.

The young generation may not have a connection to it.
.and the old ones who have got a connection are too absorbed in the functions of adult to enjoy it as their child hoodhood permitted.

BEAUTIFUL AND EXCELLENT.

Jide Kosoko is PERFECT for the role of Chief Eleyinmi. grin

He even looks like Eleyinmi more than the original one! grin

I hope he plays the role of Eleyinmi very well. I kuku trust am. Kabiesi and Eleyinmi had ways of moving forth and back. Kabiesi would move a distance back before moving forward to his royal seat. Their English sounded musical. Chief Eleyinmi would blow big grammar all the time. Who plays the role of Balogun? What about Bassey Okon, Okoro, Sisi Clara, Garuba (Garus Garus), Bassey Okon’s shop assistant, etc, Gorimapa Sahara? Fantastic actors, all.

Next we want to see Zebrudaya and Idemudia from Edo state. Those were great days when black and white was the real deal.
