Gave them Vitamine( Vitamino Trace Oral) early in the morning...

They are all active and eating as usual

Space too compacted and lantern for heat source is a NO NO in order to avoid crd, a 100 watts bulb hovering over the carton will suffice and is only suitable for night use due to the fact that the weather is very hot during the day and at the early hours of the night at the moment.
M'y opinion though

too many faeces on the newspaper, change as soon as possible to limit cocci

Thanks for the observation. power supply isnt stable in my area so the option of using bulb might not be feasible...
with regards to space, i had to restrict them to this space for now because of heat( the smaller the better.)
For the larntern: for now its the only reliable source of heat i can bank on....because i could control the heat and also control the flame coming from the lartern... Thanks

I plan on tagging some of the chicks for close monitoring of weight gain/ performance, but now sure of the best way of tagging them. thought of using permanent marker, abi is there any other better ways

that should work fine, but I think you should try as much as possible to make feed and water accessible to each and everyone of the chicks so that they may grow uniformly, all things being equal.

Exactly water and food will be made available to all.
NO special treatment. But I just want to tag some for proper weekly monitoring of growth.

Day 2 13th Jan.

Careceryl was introduced into dia water ( a combination of Vitamines and antibiotics) I will be mixing it with dia water for the next 5 days.

Day 3

Introduced wood shavings into dia house after the clean up

I also tag 15chicks for close monitoring, dia weight was taking.

There average weight was 95g.

God knows what the price of maize will be on my next feed milling...
As at today the price of maize is 190/kg in Ilorin.

Day 8 today 19th of Jan.
Moved them to a more spacious place

Took there weight after a week today

The lowest Among them weighed 160g, while the biggest was 230g.
Most of the bird are within the range of 200g and above.

I also lose one of the chick today... So Sad.,☹️
Cause was suspected to be due to choking/stampeding.

That was the reason for changing dia house to a more bigger place.

Others are active and eating.

Day 14

Took their weight

Most of them are within the range of 400g-420gram

The lowest was 350gram while the highest among them was 460gram

I moved them to a bigger place today.

Hope the place is not too big for them for now.

i just notice i have not done any vaccination since i bought the chicks.

not a single one.

So what i did is to give them Gumboro... will be doing lasota later.

will be sharing their weight gain later in the day.

Week 3

Took dia weight @week 3
Most of them are within the range of 800grm-850grm

The smallest amount them weighed 700grm while the biggest was 940grm.

They have consumed over 65kg of feed( that's close to 3 bags of broiler Starter feed)
