Minister of State for Labour and Employment Festus Keyamo has clocked 51, Igbere TV reports.

The senior advocate of Nigeria took to social media on Thursday to celebrate his big day.

Mr Keyamo was appointed a minister in July 2019 after successfully leading the second term campaign of President Muhammadu Buhari as the director of strategic communications.

The Delta-born lawyer was first assigned to the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs as minister of state, after which he was redeployed to his present position.

I just want to brings this info to us! As it seems majority of us or even people around us know how to start up their businesses or company but don't know the importance of legally protecting the company name or their products to  make it to become a brand  (intellectual property)

what is an Intellectual property?
Intellectual property is a category of property that includes intangible creations of the human intellect that is something coin from your head to be more beneficial to others.. They are 4 types of intellectual property which are *PATENT, TRADEMARK, COPYRIGHT, AND TRADE SECRETE

What is trademark?
A trademark is a recognizable insignia, phrase, word, or symbol that denotes a specific product and legally differentiates it from all other products of its kind or a Trademark is the Legal protection of your company name or products not to allow any other company or party to use it or something similar.

Most people think when opening a company or want to start up a business, the first thing to do is to register in CAC (Cooperate Affairs Commission) after that then you go ahead with your business. No, I will advice, Trademark should be the first registration to do then follow with any other registration because Trademark makes u the rightful owner of that company name or product.. CAC is simply the registration that shows that your company is a Nigeria base company, it just the recognition of your company to Nigeria Government

Is the most expensive Trademark name (Market cap) in the world, as at January 2021, it's worth *307 billion dollars, that's just the name, second to MICROSOFT (https://fxssi.com/top-10-most-valuable-brands).
The owner of Coca-Cola once said, if he sells all the Coca-Cola factory where Coca-Cola is been produce in the world without selling the Name inclusive, it's just as if he didn't sell anything, because he is going to surpass the person that bought the factory in two years because what we mostly buy in the market is Name not the product per sa! This is the advantage of trademarking your company name or product.
When you have a foresight konwing that your company will go globally or Nationally, there is every need for you to Trademark your company name..

So how do you do your trademark, firstly your contact an accredited agent or a law firm that will come down to our office to do it. ( Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Old Secretariat, Area 3 junction, Garki Abuja.)

It is an advantage to us here on nairaland because I work in the Ministry where the Trademark is done (Ministry of Trade and Investment) and also I am practically the one approving trademark Nationwide as at now by the directive of my boss

So it will be a great advantage to us while i am still there.
