No. They give the validity based on the expiration of your passport. At least if you’re a Nigerian passport holder. If you’re passport is expiring in 5 years, they give you 5 years. If it’s expiring in 9 months, they give you a 9 months visa.

My mum has gotten her passport back. S surprised to see she was given a 4 year visa. Was expecting the usual 6 months.

Here is an update on the above:
My sister got a letter in her IRCC account last week requesting for our birth certificates with both parents name indicated. The following day she got another one asking her to apply for the Authorization for Travel exemption and she submitted all yesterday. And this morning she got passport request letter and her authorization for travel exemption approval. Thanks everyone.

I am in the same shoe as you. Never gotten a reply! Still waiting and showing processing! I am weak. If they’re gonna denial,let them do it and free someone passport, and if they wanna approve, they should sharp sharp stamp it for us and free our green passport as well! Since February 15, haa, nah me bring covid19 ni! I am so piss with this Canada! I made a big mistake not applying for work visa to China last year which my friend did and he’s already there since last year working in a fabric factory and am still waiting for God damn Canada visa!

Send an email with your proof of payment and application tracking to info.cannig@vfshelpline.com. As seen on this platform, they are supposed to respond and ask you to fill a courier form. They never responded to any emails I sent them for my mum’s courier payment. When she submitted her passport she submitter a copy of the evidence of payment and wrote her address, phone number, etc . I guess they used this information. But send the email. If you don’t get a response then harass them with phone calls

I presume the kids are here with you. You will only qualify if you are a wife or sibling of a citizen or PR holder.

This advice is very wrong. Did you read his question very well? He is a father to two Canadian citizens so that qualifies him to travel under the current travel exemptions
