You want to buy 2012 XLE Camry for 3.8m. Buyers need to be reasonable and realistic with their offer. A 2012 Camry LE is 4.3m, SE is 4.7m while XLE is 5.5m. These are average market prices.
Thank your star you didn't fall for it. Its an old scam. I shared exact experience on this Platform 5yrs ago. Awuf dey run belle

He doesn't even know 2011 is different....
He basically opened himself up for fraud when he said even if its 2011 or 2012 for 3.8m.
2 totally different cars in body, shape and price.

I don't know where to fear more either Berger auto market or computer village and no one is doing any shit about those places.

Both are same. Na Ikeja computer village criminals spread reach Berger.

One needs to be careful and smart when dealing in auto transactions.

Kubwa stand ABUJA.

Well dressed Hajia walked into an innocent mechanic workshop who was doing his job jejely, asked him to help inspect a car, told him she would pay 100k for the inspection if the deal falls through.
On hearing 100k for inspection, innocent mechanic left what he was doing and followed Hajia like a sheep.

They both boarded uber to a car stand in kubwa, she pointed at a 2017 camry, mechanic did his inspection and certified car ok.

Hajia asked she test drive the car,she hopped in,drove off to test drive, left mechanic with the car dealer. 5mins passed,10mins to 30mins Hajia was no where to be found. It was then they asked mechanic, where is Hajia, he replied,I don't know her from Adam, I was working under a car when she came into my workshop, asked me to help inspect a car for 100k in return.

Long story short, Hajia was never seen, neither was the 2017 camry. Mechanic still cooling off in kuje prison as we speak. N8million gone into the wind.

The worrisome part is that their partners in crime will be putting the blame on the victim for wanting to buy a costly item for a cheaper price as if the buyer and seller didn't bargain on the price before a final agreement was reached.
That's naija mentality for you.

If not that the system is not working, her bank details is enough to nail that fraudster. Sometimes I wonder why we register for al this so called BVN, NIMC AND NIN. Misplaced priorities. Congratulations @OP.Gods wisdom will not elude us this year.

I say this without any apology. Those running the government in this country are thieves. Pure and simple. The only reason for all those NIN, BVN and all is so that in the event of a repeat of endsars they would be able to trace and kill those involved in the agitation. They have no intention of catching criminals.

@Virgohills wooooww!!! congratulations o!! Thank God for wisdom that made you speak with the owner before making payment. I can't imagine how your client would have felt or reacted if you had been scammed and called to inform him. I don't know you, but I really really rejoice with you. Thanks for sharing this.

Virgo u do not go to Berger to buy a car without knowing sm1 u trust there or verifying the authentic owner of the car from various sources there. There are many online and offline scammers using Berger and other places to scam desperate and greedy unsuspecting buyers. U already know the car Ure buying cost way more u shudnt be greedy to fall for such.

Some other greedy person would have paid and start accusing ghosts of fraud. Let’s be careful and guided.

Also never pay money to sm1 not present with u claiming to be owner of a car when u have not authenticated his/her ownership with necessary documents.

Meanwhile I have a camry 2012/13 Toks for 3.95m. Cheers.

Anyways that's how she blocked me on WhatsApp and the ife guy was saying that he knows nothing about it. That the lady called him out of the blues and told him a mechanic was coming to check a car for her. Bla bla bla bla..

I immediately refunded my client his money first as seen below

You are an honest man for you to refund your client his complete money in these days.

Is buying a vehicle that risky for one to involve a lawyer in the purchase process? I don't think it is necessary.

My registered and licenced business "Autos and Cartalk" has been helping people to buy vehicles without involving lawyers and we have been doing fine to the glory of God.

To read more about how we operate, you can read "Buying Used Cars/Vehicles In Nigeria Either Nigeria Or Foreign Used Made Easy" here => https://autosandcartalk.com/threads/buying-used-cars-vehicles-in-nigeria-either-nigeria-or-foreign-used-made-easy.295/

Just involved two steps. Govt should have an electronic database for all citizens and let the NIMC / BVN number be a prerequisite for getting an accommodation. Lobatan.

You are smart and God was by your side.

Anyone can fall for that tactics if not very careful. Our Nigeria system is so bad that you cant trace someone through their account number despite having bvn.

So it happened on the 22nd of January 2021.

I wanted to buy a Toyota camry 2013 for a client who already sent me some money to buy it at budget of 3.9m or 4m+ if seen. So I was in search of this car here and there. I checked all car platforms then I saw a red Camry 2012. I call the number (I had no true caller on my phone as at this time. We spoke briefly, said she will get back.

A woman later reached out to me saying we just spoke concerning the camry, that one has been sold. But I have another one at Berger. How much do you want you spend I said 3.8m even if its 011 or 012 its ok.

She said fine. Start heading for mile two. When you get there call ife 07039281760 he is my boy and he waiting for you at the office. I called. He told me to drop at UBA in Berger that he will pick me up. When I got to UBA i dropped called and he came. Then i followed him to see the car his madam said i should come and buy.

I saw the Camry it was super neat. I sent it to my client. He loved it. He just called said I should go ahead and buy it for him. I said okay.

Actually the car cost due to its grade is around 5.5million. But the person the phone who led me here the supposed madam of ife assured me not to worry that the car belongs to her and her husband and she has spoken with her husband that I can make payment to her and she will sort it out.

Meanwhile she already told the people there whom are the owners of the cars that I am just a mechanic that I came to help her confirm car and that she is the one pay. That they should let me test drive the car.
congrats man ani sagbako oooo

I test drove and I loved the car. She called me after the test drive and said do I like it. I said yes. So she sent me her account details as seen below

0126201814
GT bnk
Name: Oshinubi Adeola oluwabumi

Her number: +234 808 679 8163

She said once I have paid I send my full name and address for receipt, also I must send proof of payment to her too. I said ok

Then I requested to see the man that own the car for real. I need to see him. He then came out, I told him all the conversations I have been having on phone and that she said she has spoken to you that I can pay 3.7m for this car. The man said no one spoke to him about any payment. That he was told on phone ife gave him to answer that I am just a mechanic. That once I have confirmed she will pay...she even went on to collect the man's (owner) account details

So the man said well. If you are chatting with this lady and you are the buyer. Call her on video call let's see her to confirm all. I then called her on video call, she declined and called me direct. The owner took the phone from me. And said I thought you said he is your mechanic. You are you asking him to send you 3.7m for a car worth 5.5m.

If you truly want to buy this car send us the balance now he will pay us the 3.7m here then he can go with the car. Then at this point the she ended the call and deleted her account details from the chat as seen in the image below. But I have already forwarded it out.
Thank God you escaped but why curse her children, What did they do to you? It's between you and her now.

What makes fraud easy and fraudsters get a way with it easily is our uncooperative Banks.

Trust me if any fraudster know they would be hunt down thru their banks, they would think 2ce before engaging in it.

Banks also frustrate u to the extent u just want to forget everything.

CBN shld charge all commercial banks not to aid fraud/robbery.

Everything still boils down to poor govt and weak system
