No bro. I later went to the guy's shop in Computer Village Ikeja when I wanted to buy another laptop for my younger sister.
Maybe the seller also got a good deal on that laptop himself as well. It happens once in a while

Why is no one asking Op why he wanted to pay money without cross checking papers and VIN.
U damn lucky man

I read the posts on this thread and just a few people have asked this question. Makes me wonder how people do business. I mean is it even rocket science?

Even a child should know that you can't just buy a property without seeing, touching and confirming the owner's proof of ownership. Why are people so illiterate and gullible in this country?

i understand but don’t get who leaves a car in a car stand untracked, also why allow the woman test drive without an inspector? Or something? And why is it hard to track the car I ask again? I understand the concept but don’t get how it works , except the sellers are extremely naive ...

Meanwhile she already told the people there whom are the owners of the cars that I am just a mechanic that I came to help her confirm car and that she is the one pay. That they should let me test drive the car.

Where is that girl that used to say she checked certain crime and saw there was no woman, therefore women are indeed the future?
I don't know your moniker but see your life outside. That was just your sophisticated sister in crime. Women are the future of crime indeed

This almost happened to me on my toks 2005 Lexus rx330 in 2019 December . The said "woman" only talks on Whatsapp calls and for obvious reasons ,the said woman fakes her voice tone to sound like a woman . Only the greedy falls for her games.

A said buyer claimed he paid 2.5m into an account provided by the woman for a car worth 3.4m at that time .

Issue escalated and I was illegally detained with my boy at police station and case later transferred to SARS ikeja . Car was later released back to me in February when there was no proof I provided the buyer(a dealer for that matter ) the account details he claimed he paid into.

It was a terrible experience with the Nigerian police !!!

Chai!

My sincere empathies, bro. You will rise again. It is well.

So you will pay for a car before seeing the car documents?
How can one just test drive a car then transfer money without verifying the car documents and VIN,it makes no sense.
If you neglect to do these things and rush to make payment, then u are setting yourself up for a scam in the first place.

The low price is the bait. That is why greedy people are so easy to scam. Their quest to save/make money clouds their sense of reasoning, making them soft targets to even the most miniature of scamming techniques.

One faithful day in 2011, I majestically walked to julious berger with 800k, hoping to buy a ferrari, I was charmed. Came back with a 1992 mitusbishi lancer that faced left but moved straight. Rusted car that always smelled like a dead rat. God saved me my village people assassinated the engine and I became free from it. Run from that Berger car stand.

People just saying he is smart, lucky,God on his side etc;did not even bother asking him relevant questions.
How is it possible someone goes to a car shop and just says I was told by miss A,BC,to come test a Camry.
The standard opening statement for a sane person is supposed to be:'Miss,A,B,C, says she has a car x,yz,for sale,so I came to check it out".
If the car dealer is not in on it,he would quickly respond 'I am the owner of the car and car dealership and I don't know who this is miss whoever,is'.
There and then you know it was all a childish scam by the person alone.
You go to a car stand, don't ask question, don't introduce yourself and state the person that contacted you;test drive the car and viam!Intend to make transfer!!That's you setting yourself up for a scam and even the police,EFCC would first castigate and reap off u first, before going after the scammer.

The car seller is an accomplice with the fraud woman. He has a percentage in the fraud deal. There was this pretty and innocent looking lady who came to a petrol station to buy fuel in a 25ltr keg.I was there before her.I have already been attended to.So I was waiting for a receipt. After the female petrol attendant has attended to the pretty lady, she was going and the petrol attendant called her back and asked for money.
Petrol attendant; You never pay me money you dey go.
Customer;I don pay you.I just give you #2k.
Petrol attendant; You never pay me.Ok,where I keep the money. She was searching her pockets, but there was no money.
The Petrol attendant now turned to me and asked, bros you see when she give me money.I said I don't know.
Truth, the lady didn't pay a dime but I didn't want to interfere because most of the petrol attendants are cheats.
U already interfered by denying the truth,U also aided and abetted cheating

Very good question.
(1)There is a saying, you will be addressed or treated the way you dress or appear. This woman looks like money, smells like money with gold and glittering all over, reason she was given the respect of test driving alone.

(2) Mechanic came with her,so dealer believed they were together, thinking since mechanic is not going with her she won't go anywhere. Not knowing she was a stranger to mechanic.

(3) How do you track a tokunbo car? Not registered. She even went away without custom duty. Even stolen registered cars aren't easy to track, talk more of a tokunbo car.

Note!! Kubwa express,as soon as you enter that smooth road, its either u face kaduna, lokoja or make a u turn and face nasarawa.

Baba that shiiit taught me something that day.
After, there was this couple that came to inspect my lexus Es350,we were all in the car when they test drove the car, next he asked his wife or girlfriend do you like the car? She said yes!! He then asked if I could come down from the car and excuse them for a minute cos he needs to discuss with her if they should buy the car or not lol. Mind you AC was on,so it was more like the excuse of they don't want to stay in the sun.
Guess what? I just push the stop button of the car, collected the key from the guy and stepped out. They both looked at me funny, but man I care less. Only God knows,if I had left them with the keys all in the name of I want to sellcar grin. Na same kubwa express o,you need see that road,SMOOTH LIKE BUTTER,na bye bye be that.

Have you heard about fake alert on Fridays? Why Fridays ?Lol.
There are different levels to this nonsense.
