Re: Inverter Users : Lets Have Your Experience by eliok(m): 7:20pm On Jan 23, 2021
Do a simple Google search for inverter name and it's problems .

Eg. Prag inverter problems.

Now next you said 4 battery's.

What's the capacity?
Voltage ? Current ?

Now after that , are you going 24v or 72 volts?

What is your power consumption in watts?

What equipment will be using it?

How many hours per day?

All these questions when answered correctly at the beginning helps a lot.
To avoid stories that touch.

Our installers on nairaland are good especially marketers .

I only doubt their calculation of energy needed.
All the best

Thannks for your response.. The technical details is not a problem and its not my focus here. My question relates to durability only. I googled Genus and Luminous inverter and got an Indian review site (something like "shutmouth"winkand the reviews were negative. I couldn't get anything on Prag or cyberpower.

I am just looking for advice on a durable inverter that can last me a long time.. at least 7 to 10 years with proper maintenance.. any advice ?

Get prag then, I've been using mine for 5yrs (I've fixed it once, a change of the board), the beauty of it is that they have an efficient after sales support, so no worries there.

If budget is not an issue get the hybrids like MPP, sorotec or high end ones like Deye, victron and sunsynk. Good things is that they respect their warranty even though they don't have local service center. Though I should note that there may be service centre for victron

maybe I will do a little research for you. But hybrid inverter and pure sine wave is the best.

Next is which brand?

That's where my research will be. The brand or model.

Try Schneider, or mpp solar or victron .

There are more but any of these should work fine.

Does anyone have experience with all these all in one inverter- solar inverter with inbuilt lithium battery. I saw some on jumia and jiijii for like 180-450k depending on watts.. 500w to 1,000w..

Its for just one student room with TV, rechargeable fan and energy saving bulb.
Is these inverter durable, and in case we need 4o replace battery, can one easily get replacement?

I think 1000 watts of power will Meet your need.

Now how do you plan to generate it is the question.

The link mention is ok.

But for 1k watts. That's a little much . (185k)

You can get this 1k in many ways .

12v 100amp battery. Deep cycle.

Or ask someone to build 18650 pack laptop battery 1k watts for you.

Just search nairaland. I got a contact b4 here but I've lost it.

Now you need

200 watts panel

12v 100am battery (lithium) (150 laptop battery pieces)

Charge controller
Cables

Inverter 1k watts

A technician.
Estimate cost depends on location and technician. But around 120k should do.

If you do it yourself around 80-90k is ok

I build mine myself.
Hope it helps

POSTING/UPDATING SOME RECENT RENEWABLE ENERGY PRODUCTS DEVELOPMENTS

- Quanta "white carton" just launched a new product packaging as seen in snapshot below

- Luminous company discontinued importation & sales of blue carton 200a lead acid batteries since 2019 till date as seen in recent company chat snapshot below

*Avoid being misinformed!
*Avoid rebranded or substandard products as they
rarely come with official signed warranties nor
stamp
*Deal with a reliable / trusted source

Dekka ain't same with Deka
Quanta ain't same with Lantan
Rebranding is fraud and shouldn't be encouraged

Luminous blue, sukam, ritar, hoppeke AGM batteries now never goes outta stock go be factual.

yea it does.. Thanks. if one build this using laptop batteries, can one carry it easily, for instance, the student can carry it to classroom to charge during the day and use at night? portability is a big consideration here.. thats the draw of the ones on Jumia.. it looks so portable but its expensive ssha

ok.

You can buy if you don't want to diy.

As for portability, lithium is the best. I mean laptop battery.

But everyone must not build their own.
But I can't depend on nepa charging it.

They are selling it without panel.

Hmmm?

Your choice is
If you can diy then build it with a little guidance.

If not ,

Buy their own.

Don't try to build this yourself if you don't know your way around lithium ion chemistry, as lithium batteries especially the laptop battery type are not forgiving of abuse.

Inverter Should Meet The Application
To choose an inverter, you should first define your needs. Where is the inverter to be used? Inverters are available for use in buildings (including
homes), for recreational vehicles, boats, and portable applications. Will it be connected to the utility grid in some way? Electrical conventions and
safety standards differ for various applications, so don’t improvise.
