Legal issues... "In 2010, Femi married Juliana in the Yoruba Customary Law (Traditional marriage) without children. In 2014, same Femi married Jumoke at the Ikoyi Registry with 3 children. "Who's the legal wife of Femi?" Answer: Juliana Why? Section 33 of the Marriage Act provides as follows: (1) No marriage in Nigeria shall be valid where either of the parties thereto at the time of the celebration of the marriage is married under customary law to another person other than the person to who the statutory marriage is had. |

Treash:Interesting. I think people especially women would still prefer the statutory marriage or a church/mosque affiliated to the court because of proof. How do you prove traditional marriage? Pictures? That can be doctored or stolen or tamperred with. |
