Boyhood:

Any reason for the bolded aside COVID-19?? Looking at your pictures makes me wonder people no dey leave for my dream Land again. wink

Of course it's because of Covid.. The City/Country is in strict lockdown.

Everybody is expected to stay at home except for essential workers and those offering essential services like food, clothing, deliveries, pharmacies, sanitation etc. Schools are closed till probably middle of next month..

This is in order not to overwhelm the medical facilities the NHS and it's workers with the growing number of cases.

Stay at home. Protect the NHS. Save lives.

The good news is vaccination is ongoing now in order of priority as set up the govt. With residents in care homes for older adults and their carers, people aged 80 and over, frontline health and social care workers been the first to be vaccinated because they are most at risk..

Then the list goes lower and lower..

The govt hopes that all things working according to plan, by Sept everybody should be vaccinated. To achieve this, mass vaccination centers are been open in addition to hospitals, GP offices, pharmacies, etc, with retired doctors, nurses, pharmacists, GPs, Army, final year med students etc all pitching in to fasten the process. As long as the vaccines are available.

Vaccination is not mandatory but you are strongly recommended to take it when offered.. So far, I think 3 vaccines has been approved in the UK: Oxford/AstraZeneca, Pfizer/BioNTech and recently Moderna.

You won't get to choose which vaccine you want. Them go chook you the one wey dem get at the time wey you stand for their face grin

The beauty about this country is that everybody gets to afford whatever is it they want.. If you are on minimum wage, you can get to live a fairly comfortable life as you can afford all the basic necessities of life. Shops like this and others like One Pound, Lidl, Everything £5, Primark, Charity shops, etc will make this happen.

If you want to live the middle class life, the high street shops are there eg M&S etc
Then if you want a balling life, shops like Harrods etc are there.

It now behoves on you to choose the life you want..

Meanwhile, how much is Sure in your area? At least you can afford to smell nice here abi cheesy

See that Simple Cleansing water, I bought for 2500 in Naija cheesy

I saw this plaque on a building which houses M&S store and I was intrigue to know more about that person.

So Google search reveal that he was a Scottish poet and lyricist. He is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland and is celebrated worldwide. Countries have statutes erected in his honour.

His poem (and song) "Auld Lang Syne" tells a story about old friends reminiscing their great adventures but now sung at Hogmanay (the last day of the year), as a farewell to the old year by the time the clock strikes at midnight.

Scotland celebrates him with Burns Night on the 25th of January(tomorrow) which happens to be his birthday.

Even a crater on Mercury is named after Burns

After my studies in 2010, I just concluded that the difference between developed and developing nations are too much. 19th century Europe was far more developed than 21st century Africa.

I was buying chocolate coated biscuits for less than 50p in UK whereby the same sells for 3k here. I bought bucket of cadbury chocolate at £1 while the same goes for not less than 3.5k here.

No matter your status, you could still live a decent poor man life in UK.

Whenever in Nigeria, there are some things I refuse to buy, not because one can't afford it and do big man levels but out of principle!! I mean even after calculating for profit, tax, import brouhaha and inefficiency in the system- the prices are just daylight robbery!!

See the price on the first pic £99, like if I wear that top I no go catch cold again abi.. lol

Still on living a decent poor man's life, same goes for decent clothing.
Check the price on the M&S red sweater. First price was £29.50, then reduced to £19 and then £9, which was within what we could afford to pay because the cold here eh.
See the price of the M&S trousers on 2nd pic, was £19.50 now on sale for £8.50.

In Coventry, I bought a dress for £15 from a shop, the following day while passing thru the same shop, I saw the same dress was on sale for £7, na so I run go house go carry the dress go return. Collected my £15 back, then pick the dress from the sale rack and paid £7 grin

I don't remove tags from clothes and don't trash my receipts till I'm sure I won't be returning them wink

If you fancy any piece of clothing and it's beyond your budget, just monitor the shop and you might be lucky to get it for cheap when it's on sale.. No be all shops all cheesy

Talk of decent living..

I just observed that about biscuits, sweets
Lidl is more of fresh food, food generally and few household, at least the one around us.
One below did not have fresh food

We complain to our landlord about our fridge. We couldn't open the freezer compartment so it affected how we preserve food and the quantity we can buy. Also, if we are to have other occupants in the house, the fridge/freezer will be too small for us.

Yesterday, our new fridge/freezer (that's how it's call here) was delivered by 2 men. The men just dropped it and told us to connect after about 3 hrs...

First pic, old fridge

Now I can shop with easeeeee
