Your question is not very clear to me, unless it’s properly framed before I can answer; particularly when you used the word “big data”.

Do you mean any of the following?:

—-Development of Machine Learning Based Cyber Security Intrusion Detection model

——Development of Deep Learning model to Detect Cyber Attacks

——Development of Machine Learning for Cybersecurity

——Development of cyber intrusion detection system using some set of algorithms

Good morning wip7

This is actually the question.

Developing a detection algorithm for cyber threats in big data.

In either case, throw light on this please.

I think, prof had helped to redesign your topic in such that it will have a clear perspective. When you mentioned "big data" I would also ask which big data are you referring to, is it, financial data, medical data, educational data social data, etc it will aids to centralize your focus area, though.

I am also working on microbial threat detection on metals. wip7, prof. I will also ask to put more light on this too. I will appreciate your input.

Hello house.

The last 2 to 3 hours I've spent on this section of nairaland is arguably the most useful in over 7 years.

Robust arguments, uncommon mentorship (by Wip7) meaningful and impactful posts/responses.

I just found a new home here.

Thank you all.

Fully-funded Masters & PhD Scholarships in Australia

Begin your new year with scholarship applications to universities in Australia. It's time to take your scholarship search more seriously. The University of New South Wales and Bond University are offering fully-funded masters and PhD scholarships.

Sorry, I can see you are hypertensive on my comment. I commented on the fact that you still refer to your actual question like you aren't satisfied being reproof, which I also suggest which data you are referring to. Sorry.

Firstly, I like to ask If you are applying for a specific, advertised research project, meaning the Ph.D. research project is already defined?

If the above is true; then your first point is to identify the supervisor that advertised the research topic and discuss your proposal informally to ensure it directly fits the intended interest and gain input on the scope, design, and feasibility of the proposal.

If the above is false, then I think this topic is very localized/nationalized if you are not applying for a specific, advertised Ph.D. research project.

For most of the supervisors like me; the first thing I check when I receive a Ph.D. research proposal is to check if the proposed research can be replicated/reproducible internationally or on a wider scale using the same input parameters. Will I be able to publish the results, observations, and trends in the research and making it reusable by almost anybody in another clime? If such a proposal does not fit this then I don't consider it.
You are going to Finland, your potential supervisor possibly a Finnish person and likely no nothing about Nigeria, and the government likely, not interested in funding such, also, during the Jury they may need to bring in many members that are conversant with your work to query your methods, results which becomes problematic etc.

Do you want to study a Ph.D. program for 3 to 5 years on the Nigerian Government’s Covid-19 Education Intervention?

In my opinion, you may consider changing your topic to something like "E-Learning and M-learning in a Developing Country: Implementation, Challenges, and Advances" This topic is not localized to Nigeria, the situation in Nigeria when it comes to e-learning is very similar to those in Burundi, Colombia, Chile, Kenya, Lebanon, Ghana etc......meaning your results, methods, observation, and recommendation will be very useful in these developing nations.

Also, any investor thinking of venturing into the e-learning business in these regions will find your work valuable, and also you stand a greater chance of being cited more than the earlier topic you proposed. It is possible for you to collaborate with key people in some of the countries you will get data from, understand their key challenges and your Ph.D. studies may find solutions to improving or solving these challenges...

That's my opinion..........!!

Best wishes
Excellent position sir. I'm really learning from the masters here.

I wouldn't mind mentoring me sir

You don't need to quote me please.

Seems you have difficulty in comprehension. Did you even read my comments you quoted. Did you read the last paragraph?

Go back and read my question, this time around, read it words by words and if possible get a pen and note some points. By the time you get to the last paragraph, pause and ask a friend to read it out for your easy comprehension. Thanks

It is you that don't have comprehension skills to understand engagement with your character. I haven't said anything that should make you paranoid.

Morning great scholar, I have been invited for PhD interview for one of the school I apply. Please kindly share with me tips and what to expect during the interview. @prof wip7

Ph.D. Interview:

Generally, HR employees, heads of departments, and mostly the potential supervisors are people who interview prospective Ph.D. applicants.

Basic tips:

----All prospective Ph.D. students' interviews are different. Hence, when planning for your interview, be versatile and do not take the advice of others as definitive, but use it to build on.

----Respond to questions in a way that show that you are independent and original by engaging with fair statements in the discussion and supporting your claims.

-----Don't pretend you know stuff that you don't. If something is not known to you, admit it. It's better than providing a vague response that signals that you don't know what you're talking about.

---Don't get too emotional and don't try to be funny because the interviewers likely come from different cultures. It's fine for excitement, just not if it's exaggerated.

The common questions

General questions--like background and personal qualities: Your academic background and experience in research work and academic environments would interest any Ph.D. supervisor. Briefly, you need to show your experience of writing papers, your capacity to work on long-term and short-term research projects, and some demanding skills/experience.

Motivation: They're likely to ask you why you want to obtain that Ph.D. degree in that field. Since this will describe your dedication to the project, it is as vital as your academic skills.

Ph.D. study-related questions: They would most definitely want to make sure that in this field of research you have some background information. So a way forward will be to recognize the key people in your field, studies that you can use as a basis for starting the study you are going to use, and methodologies. Your research proposal will mention both of these points. But be able during the interview to express and expand on them.

Career plans: How the prospective Ph.D. influences your ambition and aspirations.

Your own question: At the end of the interview you are generally asked to ask questions. Ask intelligent questions that likely buttress your interest and dedication in the program, you may ask about the facility, funding, knowledge-transfer and research-to-market potential.

The study was directed to treat olive mill containing heavily loaded phytotoxic phenols. This is part of funded research; here only phenol was degraded and next research COD removal and recovery of valuables from the wastewater are researched.

Work was solely carried out by WIP7 and published in the Journal of Water Process with an impact factor of 3.47 and indexed in SCI.
