Remmy Hazzan, Special Adviser on Public Communications to Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, says popular Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo, well known as Sunday Igboho, is welcome in the state.

“Anybody who is hoping to help us with the security situation is welcome. Not only Sunday Igboho, whoever has what it takes to help us get security right is welcome in Ogun State,” Hazzan said on PUNCH Live on Saturday.

Residents and some monarchs of Ketu-speaking villages in the Yewa North Local Government Area of the state had lamented that they were brutalised by soldiers who escorted herdsmen to graze in their communities.

Igboho, who had issued a seven-day quit notice to herdsmen accused of sundry crimes in the Ibarapa area of Oyo State and enforced same, had also said he and his supporters would storm Ogun and other South-West states.

When asked if the state government was ready for the ‘visit’ by Igboho, the Ogun State governor’s aide said any stakeholders who would help the security architecture of the state was welcome.

Hazzan, however, stressed that Igboho “would be welcome for consultation” only and not for any form of violence or confrontation.

He also added that though Igboho was not constitutionally empowered to issue quit notices but the helpless security situation of Ibarapaland warranted the move by the activist.

The governor’s aide said there was the need for restructuring so that state governments can take full control of the security situation in their respective states.

Hazzan refuted claims that his principal —the governor of the state — was not doing enough to secure lives and property in the state.

According to him, Abiodun is engaging widely with stakeholders including the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, traditional rulers and other persons to ensure peace and tranquility in the state.

Basically, either we improve funding and training for the police, or there would be more issues with ethinc millita attacking and more fulani herdsmen attacking...and so on

Infact, if people like the criminal element among the herdsmen and the ethnic millitas are allowed to run amok, we could end up in a state of anarchy.

Anyone supporting criminal elements whether they be fulani, yoruba, igbo or whatever, does not mean well for this nation, and for the world. Anarchy must not be allowed here.

Isn't it obvious the leaders are solidly behind Sunday Igboho, except baby Governor Audio Makinde, who is struggling to get National fame and acceptance in the National Politics through romance with Northerners

They think think Ibarapa people would wait till 400 children are kidnapped at once just like Kankara in Katsina state, while the Governor and President dialogue and paid bandits hiding in Sokoto forest?! Instead of chasing them out of the forest

Which of the leaders are behind Igboho?

You meant the deluded leaders that want SW to burn all in the name of having grudges with some Fulani herdsmen?

It's over 2 weeks that both parties have been engaging in a meeting on how to resolve the issue and we are yet to record any loss of lives or properties.

Me wondering if Igboho had been allowed to carry out his threats, so many lives must have been lost, properties destroyed while many would have been displaced

Many Nigerians would be a worst ordinary class captain

It is hard to describe loss to someone who has never experienced it, impossible to explain all the ways it changes you. But for those who have, not a single word is needed.
