I give it to the Fulanis, these people are smart! They have their plan on conquering Nigeria a long time ago and they went about it piecemeal. They started with the most docile and mugu. First was the Hausa, they easily overran and overwhelmed them completely. Next was the middle belt minorities, they're now at an advanced stage of conquering them too. They now have emirs and fulani settlements all over middle belt but it's still a work in progress. With the middle belt conquest almost completed, they moved over to the South West. Today, many villages there shockingly have fulani settlements and leaders operating side by side with indigenes! Just like they did with the Hausas, they started intermarrying with afonja Muslims and today, there are significant fulani/afonja mixed blood over there! They now have areas the indigenes wouldn't dare to enter without first obtaining permission from them! Their numbers have grown massively too and they understand the terrain and jungles even more than the indigenes!

It's obvious their plan is to overwhelm every other region completely before focusing on Igboland. They know it would be extremely difficult in Igboland unlike in the North and SW where they had it on a platter of gold, so they want to first solidify their bases all over Nigeria before using federal might to suppress the East. Unfortunately for them, Igbos know what they know and are now preempting their move.
