I remember in Coventry, someone asked me how much I get paid as a carer, hours I work etc..

I am not looking for work yet but when I do get one, I'm thinking if I should put it out here so people can see how it is over here and probably learn a thing or two.

Already DH has a 3day training for a job from tomoro. Bills has to be paid grin

Let me know what you think cus I'm still thinking..

We complain to our landlord about our fridge. We couldn't open the freezer compartment so it affected how we preserve food and the quantity we can buy. Also, if we are to have other occupants in the house, the fridge/freezer will be too small for us.

Yesterday, our new fridge/freezer (that's how it's call here) was delivered by 2 men. The men just dropped it and told us to connect after about 3 hrs...

First pic, old fridge

Now I can shop with easeeeee
Enjoyment for those who live in furnished apartments ooo.

Lol.. Depending on your taste and how long you'll be in the country, you can rent an unfurnished house.

It won't cost an arm and a leg. There are plenty charity furniture shops, eg British Heart Foundation where you can get furniture for cheap prices. Earlier in the thread in Coventry I posted one called Love Coventry, you can get a reasonable sized fridge/freezer for £50. Tables, chairs, chest of drawers for less than £30 etc.

Also there is gumtree and even Facebook market place where people sell unwanted stuff for giveaway price and some even give out free provided you can go and pick it up.

Lastly, if you are working and you want tear rubber stuff, you have the option of getting the shop's 'pay small small' scheme grin ( I am considering this for the new Samsung S21 5G, I cannot come and kill myself jor) cheesy cheesy

Decent living

In April 2020, Captain Sir Tom Moore wanted to raise £1,000 for charity by his 100th birthday by doing laps in his yard with his walker.

His story inspired so many people that he ended up raising over £32 million for the NHS.

He received over 150,000 birthday cards from all over the world.

In July, he was knighted by the Queen.

Sadly, he has just passed away with Covid-19.

May his soul rest in peace.

After my studies in 2010, I just concluded that the difference between developed and developing nations are too much. 19th century Europe was far more developed than 21st century Africa.

I was buying chocolate coated biscuits for less than 50p in UK whereby the same sells for 3k here. I bought bucket of cadbury chocolate at £1 while the same goes for not less than 3.5k here.

No matter your status, you could still live a decent poor man life in UK.
So right about biscuits.
Food generally is very cheap if not extremely cheap in UK.
Funny, they import some of these things yet so cheap.

I shop mainly in Aldi. They sell so cheap but I do patronize them cos of fresh everything and cos it's smaller than the rest in size in my area.

I have tried shortbread made by diff companies, some as costly as 15pounds but the one I went back to buy was the one made for Aldi and it's not up to 50p. Around 39 or so.

It isn't just dependent on how long, if you will be working and you have kids, unfurnished appears to be a better option because you can't leave the house as good as you met it with active kids around

Lovely Park/Garden. View from across the Library. Should be lovely in Summer

This water runs through a path leading from the Lib. There is some sort of filter on one side and it runs clear on the other side
