Church members and wedding guests in a church in Port Harcourt engaged in a verbal fight when the pastor refused to wed a couple right away because they arrived 5 minutes late to church.

Despite pleas, the pastor went to his office and declined to wed them at the appointed time.

He left the couple waiting for one hour and allegedly said he will wed them at his own convenience inside his office, not in the church as expected.

At some point, the bride breaks down in tears while the groom tries to console her outside the church building.

If I were in their shoes...I would have look for anyone around with a bible and recite our vow outside the church premises then head straight to our reception ground... Nigerian pastors playing God.
I've watch several foreign movies when one or both the couple arrive the church late and the pastor will gladly wed them...

Nice one from the pastor. This attitude of "African time" has to stop. Somebody invites u to an occassion He said will start by 12pm, by 3pm You are still waiting for it to commence, he feels he owns your whole day. This is nonsense!!! Let your 12pm be 12pm.

even when u decide to do traditiinal marriage and exclude the church, will it stop them from "African time"? The bride's family will give them appointment for 9am, he and his family will come by 1pm, is such a person serious? Let's learn to say the truth when we see it. I'm angry with how people waste my time all in the name of invitation to ceremonies. If u say 12pm, start by 12pm, I don't owe u the whole day.

Haba naaaa it just 5 minutes late naaaa. That not nice at all, he should have just scold them and proceed with the wedding.
