Hitler actually didn't want to conquer Britain because he believed that Britain would surrender on seeing its allies and the rest of Europe conquered by Germany...

His major aim was Russia Tho...

Britain was just lucky not to have been on the same land mass as the rest of Europe

With the loss of Africa and rhe potential oil from the planned mid east incursion gone, Hitler tore up the pact with Russia and massed troops qith the aim of capturing the oil fields of the Caucasus.

Russia in its naivety never secretly developed its military so it had to turn to America and Britain for help to kickstart its defence and its was given massive inventories of planes, tanks and artillery pieces.

That is why the Germans initially had the upperhand and siezed almost a fifth of the country in just a few weeks. Russia was not up to speed.

But Hitler's obsession for grandeur made him split his own army in two and diverting vital resources to capture Stalingrad which neither had administrative nor economic importance. By pursuing a city just for its name he lost the entire war.

You are not entirely correct too.
Yes, between the wars Hitler had great respect for Britain. He saw in the monarchy the kind of stability he so desired of himself and his country.

But he also knew ot would be impossible to keep Britain out of Europe again ao he had plans to take Britain but only if he was large enough to withstand America because he knew America would not allow Britain to fall.

His hands were forced when he began attacking American flag ships resupplying Britain and when his ally in Japan foolishly attacked Pearl habour his time began to run down.

He had plans to take down Britain but only when he was fully prepared. He was never able to max out his military.

However you are right. If Britain was on continental Europe the war on the western front would have been done and dusted by 1940. But if Britain was on continental Europe America as we know it today will also not exist.

When they have to worry about everything, hustle under the harsh weather, board the stressful transport, ply the rickety roads, harassed by uncivilized police and military, everything sucks....no water, no light, don't be surprised Russia was better than here during the war. Those Japs were more cruel... If not for the two atomic bombs that America dropped, they would have kept on fighting till 1946

The Russian advance or pursuit of the Germans became much quicker when the western Front was opened


A lot of men died in Africa and would have continued to die if Hitler had actually seen the use of africa..
