Is Ibadan Still Cheap? by adebayo3449(m): 2:02am On Feb 10, 2021
Good day all,
I have read a lot about ibadan in the past, from being cheap to having stable electricity in some areas. I want to know if these claims are false or True especially in terms of housing.
Please kindly suggest areas with good and stable electricity, good security and moderately ok rent.
Thanks
Re: Is Ibadan Still Cheap? by Nobody: 2:48am On Feb 10, 2021
E dey okay, but e don cast also.
The traffic upsurge due to more people buying cars this year and last year.
Housing is still kinda affordable, and light is fairly Good too in some areas and best in some areas.

Akobo

Ring road

Bodija

Elebu

But rent is not that cheap especially if you are a type of person who want high standard house. Rent for duplex in some of these places is around 700k to 1m.

If you can manage flat, you can still get good one around 300k to 500k per annum.

Food is not expensive but not cheap as well

Except if you want to move inside the bush... I moved to Ibadan less than two weeks ago... And i was able to secure a room and parlour (not self contain ) for 60k total package...(close to IITA) ... Light is quite stable..

Please, are there available self contains around the area?
How were you able to do it? Did you stay with someone before looking for apartment or someone helped you. I plan to move to Ibadan and look for Job or something doing soon

I do not advise you to come to Ibadan to look for Job....it is a big NO!..
Get an offer before moving, opportunities with good pay are not that much in Ibadan

how much is self contained that area

Instead of self contain, you can go for shared apartment. Selfcon is expensive in Ibadan.

Area with stable electricity:
Ring road
Akobo
Akala express (Elebu, Elewure, ire-akari and co)

Food: Food stuff is cheaper compared to other state, you can buy bulk at Oja-oba or Bodija Market.

Job: Just think of starting a business, getting a good job here can be difficult.

Yes but the place will be very far a bit from main road

Places like Keke, cocoa inner Olodo you will get & power supply is stable in these areas to great extent

Things are costly in Ibadan now seriously exotically newly built houses
2 bedroom newly built in Ikolaba estate I saw is 1m naira annually including agent fees
2 bedroom newly built in bodija goes for 500k and above without agent fee

Thanks, I think ibadan is turning to Lagos in terms of traffic
Now that Lagos Ibadan is linked to apapa, with time, the traffic will increase because containers would be offloading from Ibadan dry port
