I criticize Nigeria Army for being bullied into doing police work. Doing police work may have saved countless Nigerian lives but this short term benefit has lead to grater loss of life, due to societal break down, since a modern Nation without functioning police force is doomed. Nigeria Army is the plaster Government used to cover a festering Nation that requires the police bandage, sorry for the tortured analogy. In any case, Nigeria needs to invest in deconstructing and reconstructing the police so that it is fit for a Nigeria that has lost its innocence due to modernity. The army facilitates the underinvestment of the police force and the damage of its own military reputation by being unable to fulfill the mandate of police work for which it is unsuited.
