REF NO CZ: 5650/LA/PPRO/VOL.3/64

POLICE PRESS RELEASE, LAGOS STATE COMMAND, DATED 14TH FEBRUARY 2021

LAGOS CP CONDEMNS MOLESTATION OF ARRESTED PROTESTERS IN VIRAL VIDEO, INSTITUTES IMMEDIATE INVESTIGATION.

The attention of the Lagos State Police Command has been drawn to a viral video where some arrested "Endsars protesters" were being molested in a bus by some individuals after their arrest.

Imagine for a minute that you are a trained soldier.

In fact, a Lieutenant.

You have a wife and two kids.

Now, imagine that during the quarterly rotation, you were sent to Bornu to fight insurgence (Boko Haram)

On this fateful day, as you were moving with your platoon.

There was an ambush.

Gun fire ensured.

You shot with all you've got.
You know that you have a slim chance of surviving the attack.

As you were running out of ammo, you called john, your buddy, for fresh supply.

No response.

You glanced and saw John's head split into two halves.
By your left is Barry, his torso turn and one of his arm lying 10 ft away.

With nothing to fight with, you made a run for it and took a deep dive into the abondoned crater while bullets were getting fired at you.

You passed out

When you woke, you saw yourself in the hospital.

The doctor came in.
"Officer, you are awake, we did an emergency surgery"
"We had to amputate you"

We are sorry.

You then asked.

'What of my team mates ?"

"Well, you lost 18 men and 2 survivors", the doctor replied. "You and Barry.

Barry is still in intensive care."

Now, 3 months later, at the defence headquarters.

Your commanding officer, General Gida told you.
"You are back, lieutenant "

" Good news!
We rounded up all the terrorist that attacked your platoon after in another battle confrontation."

They are now in rehabilitation center.

"Can I see them?" you asked

'Sure!'

You got wheeled to the center.

They opened the door.

And yes.

' There they are !'

Across the hall,
Young men in white flowing gowns were eating fried and Jellof rice with multiple chicken parts.
Some were drinking wine.

Laughter filled the air.
Having a ball.

You were told they will soon be taken abroad on scholarship.

Government sponsored.

As you were getting back to the generals office.

Just outisde the defence headquarters gate, you saw the wives of your team, now widowed, as they agitate with high voices and placards.

"We have been abandoned!"
"Pay us our husbands benefits!"
"We are hungry"

Just imagine all that.

It is the reality of a Nigerian Soldier in the corridor of terrorism.

About three days ago, a large military base was overrun in Mali by the terrorists in Mali. This video is most likely from there.
We should be very careful of what we say in public especially in this period of heightened tension.
Absolutely nothing suggests that the armed men in the video are Fulanis yet by some way you reached the conclusion that they must be Fulani.
This video and the statement attached to it can be the justification some hot headed individuals have been looking for to target and kill innocent people.

If not because the present administration is weak and stupid, they would have passed the hate speech and misinformation bill and many of the needless deaths and destruction would have been avoided.
this is worrisome

10 killed, 30 missing as Amotekun allegedly ‘joined hoodlums to attack Northerners’ in Oyo

At least 10 people have been killed, 70 sustained gunshots injuries and over 30 Northerners declared missing in a deadly attack on Sasa Market traders in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State.

DAILY NIGERIAN gathered over 6,000 Northerners, mostly Hausas, are currently taking refuge at the residence of Sarkin Sasa, Haruna Maiyasin.

“I have over 6,000 displaced people packed in my house. Many people have been killed, while others injured,” Mr Maiyasin told DAILY NIGERIAN.

Witnesses said the crisis erupted on Thursday when a porter carrying a basket of tomato inadvertently nudged a Yoruba woman. The woman allegedly retaliated and organised a group of Yoruba thugs to avenge.

DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that after the fight, one of the thugs died in the hospital.

When the news of the death circulated, the Yoruba youths allegedly gathered and started attacking the Northern traders.

In a interview with DAILY NIGERIAN, the chairman of Sasa Market Traders, Usman Yako, said they informed the police immediately after the report of the death, but the police did not promptly respond to their call until the situation went out of control.

“We called the police to inform them about the issue, and possible break down of law and order, but they did not take action immediately until the situation deteriorated,” he said.

According to Mr Yako, when the operatives of the regional security outfit, Amotekun, came, they started shooting at Northern traders instead of protecting them from attack.

“When Amotekun came, they started shooting at Northerners. The hoodlums started setting houses ablaze, shooting and burning Hausa traders’ shops.

“It is apparent that it was a targeted attack on Hausas and other Northerners.

“The attack also spread to the Lagos-Ojo Expressway, which is not far from the market. Trailers belonging to Northerners were looted, burnt down, and the drivers slaughtered.

“We were invited to Government House yesterday (Friday), and two of us were delegated. Nothing was actually done to avert the crisis and safeguard our lives.

“We have so far counted 10 bodies in the hospital. Over 70 people sustained gunshot injuries. 30 people, including my own brother, are missing,” he added.

On Saturday, Governor Seyi Makinde imposed a curfew on the area and shut the market indefinitely.

A statement by Taiwo Adisa, the spokesman for Governor Seyi Makinde, indicated that the governor gave the order to forestall breakdown of law and order in the area.

The curfew is to run from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m.

The statement warned residents of the affected area to go about their legitimate businesses peacefully, stating that anyone caught perpetrating violence will face the wrath of the law.

It bothers me how you call someone with stolen cattle or no cattle at all a herdsman are you ok?

"Herding" is a trade done by almost all tribes in the Savannah vegetation, I see more Edo herdsmen at my base than Fulani, those Auchi guys are into that trade big time, Yorubas etc, herdsmen are not the problem.

The problem is the Fulani militia, they don't own cattle, they steal it from herdsmen, they pose a threat to herdsmen whose cattle they steal than you who is kidnapped for ransome.
Fulani militia are not herdsmen they are Alqaeda linked terror group from the lower Sahel (Northern Sokoto, Katsina, Jigawa, Yobe & Borno).

With ongoing ops Barkane pushing down their brothers from the Sahel region, drought at some periods of the year, push them down South to create havoc.

Ansaru a splinter Boko haram that almost went extinct after their leader Mamman nur was killed has been revived by this group (FULANI MILITIA), those linked to Ansaru are aka Bandits, the rest are FM.

Ignorant people call them herdsmen, NO, they are not, they don't own cattle, they rustle from herdsmen. There have been few occassions where the cattle breeders association (Cattle owners) hired them to fight their battles but that was so in the past because they possess their own structure now.

The cattle owners (breeders association) is different from the herdmen, also different from the Militia, the only thing the last two share in common is "Fulfude" their central language.
Herdsmen need protection from these Militias more than us.

Ruga was a missed opportunity to protect the herdsmen.
This was explained to me by a herdsman that came to seek refuge, I did a little research & the facts came together, the biggest problem we have in this country is media, they are as useless as a Sanitary towel.

The Nigerian Air Force has lost some of its personnel to armed bandits in Kaduna State.

This was confirmed in a statement issued on Saturday by the spokesman of the Air Force, Ibikunle Daramola.

He said over 100 armed bandits laid an ambush which led to the unfortunate killing, adding that some military personnel sustained various degrees of injuries.

“Troops of the 271 Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Detachment today, 13 February 2021, foiled an ambush set up by a group of over 100 armed bandits at Ungwan Laya near Birnin Gwari in Kaduna State,” the statement partly read.

“The gallant troops were able to fight their way through the ambush killing dozens of bandits in the process.

“Unfortunately, some NAF personnel paid the supreme price during the operation, while a few others sustained varying degrees of injuries. The injured personnel are currently receiving treatment at the NAF Hospital in Kaduna.”

Meanwhile, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Oladayo Amao, on behalf all officers, airmen, airwomen and civilian staff of the NAF, has commiserated with the families of the fallen heroes, praying for the repose of their souls.

Amao who visited the injured personnel in the hospital on Saturday evening asked all NAF personnel to remain resolute and continue to collaborate with other security agencies, to rid the northwest of all criminal elements.

The Katsina State Police Command has blamed one of the old generation banks for the eventual kidnap of one of its staff living at Shagari quarters in the outskirts of Funtua, Katsina State last Thursday.

Spokesman of the Command, Superintendent Gambo Isah, told The Nation the failure of the bank to provide decent and secured accommodation for their staff often exposes them to several security risks

He said:’’The bank staff was staying outside the metropolitan area, in fact on the outskirts of Funtua that is insecurity prone and the bandits kidnapped him.

“In fact, I have called to speak with the manager of the bank.

‘’For somebody who is new in an environment where he is not an indigene of Katsina not even from the North to be employed by the organisation and left to hang out in any questionable environment does not speak good of such organisation.

‘’The banks must have to secure a very good environment for its staff like what we used to have in other organisations.

“Even in the Police, we have barracks, yes a bank like this should have accommodation or Quarters, even if it’s a ranted one that they put their staff so that adequate security could be provided for them.

“An accommodation that is not suitable by a bank for its staff is very unfortunate’’

The PPRO further called on the citizens to shun raising false alarms assuring security agencies were working hard to tackle banditry in Katsina state

The Nation recalled that some gunmen around 11.15 pm in Shagari Quarters in Funtua, Katsina State kidnapped a staff of one of the old generation banks simply called, Mr. Alex and two other daughters of one Alhaji Hassan Fari, also a resident, who slumped and died during the attack.

The Nigerian police main responsibility is to secure the lives of citizens and their properties.
The Nigerian police force in sokoto is failing the country in performing their responsibilities and they are blaming the bank. grin

The Peoples Democratic Party has described the arrest, humiliation, and trial of #OccupyLekki protesters on Saturday, as a sad reminder of what Nigerians went through in the hands of military dictators.

The Lagos State Chairman of the PDP, Adedeji Doherty, reacted to the occurrence, in a release on Sunday, titled, “#OccupyLekki: Lagos PDP slams Sanwo-Olu over arrest, humiliation of protesters, demands discontinuation of their trial.”

The chairman said, “It is a shameful irony that a government that is pampering terrorists could send policemen armed to the teeth against civilians who only expressed their displeasure over a government decision
.

“Lagosians will never believe that a time will come in the state when citizens’ rights to peaceful protests will be muscled by a supposed democratic government.

“It is now clear that all that matters to the APC (All Progressives Congress) government of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is the billions of naira generated at the Lekki Toll Gate, and not the welfare of the people.”

He also demanded explanation on whether or not it was part of the mandates of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution to investigate cases of police brutality in the state to order the commencement of operations at the toll plaza.

“When did it become the duty of a judicial panel of inquiry to order the resumption of collection of tolls at a Toll Gate, which was shut down owing to the alleged killing of youths whose only offence is that they demanded that SARS policemen should stop killing them?

“The Lagos State Government and most especially, the members of the House of Assembly from Lagos Island, Eti-Osa, Ibeju-Lekki, and Epe LGAs should open up a public hearing or referendum on the reopening of this controversial tollgate to show the world that democracy is really the order of the day in Lagos State, instead of trying to crush a peaceful protest without presenting any kind of alternative medium of diplomacy as it concerns the tollgate issue.

“As for those who were arrested among the protesters, we wish to tell them to remain strong, committed, and resolute in their quest for a Nigeria where the government does the right thing and citizens are allowed to ventilate their grievances against government freely,” the PDP chairman said.

Let's refrain from attacking one another. Most of us here are biased. We've been divided along political line; pro-government and anti-government factions. That is one of the major obstacles to solving the menace of insecurity in this country. We play politics with everything.
When government is failing, we shouldn't be shy to criticize. At the same time we should encourage and praise when they are doing well.

herdsmen should also help themselves by not carrying weapons about. How will people differentiate them from terrorists? And also the years of the conflicts they've had with farmers is coming back to haunt them. They will need to go extra miles to gain the trust of others. They should also be ready to make sacrifices. Only then will they be seen as victims of a common enemy. You cannot claim to be a victim and yet some among you are still destroying farmlands and quarreling with farmers because you have to feed your cattle.

Everything you've said is valid but let us also look at the plight of those who were forcefully conscripted to fight for the terrorists? Those whose family members were abducted and who had to join to at least protect their loved ones?
The kidnapped kids who were brought up and trained in the terrorists camps?
And if there's ever going to be an end to this war, there has to be a safe corridor for people who are willing to surrender and change their ways under reasonable conditions.
At the same time the soldiers shouldn't also be made to feel they were used and dumped. Their welfare should be of great importance to the country and they should be carried along as much as possible. In war, everyone is a victim.

And please note, there is a category of "terrorist" that are allowed into the operation safe corridor program. They screening is very thorough and most of those who go for the training are rejected and sent to detention camps to wait for a judge to sentence them. Also the requirement for being considered for the program is that the person must surrender willingly...... When was the last time NA even took prisoners?

BREAKING: Fulani Herdsmen Kill Three Farmers in Ondo
This comes two days after a clash between the operatives of the Ondo State Security Network, popularly known as Amotekun.

BY SAHARAREPORTERS, NEW YORKFEB 14, 2021

Suspected Fulani herdsmen on Saturday night attacked some farmers at Ijugbere in the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, killing three of them.

This comes two days after a clash between the operatives of the Ondo State Security Network, popularly known as Amotekun, and armed herders in the same LGA, which led to the death of two villagers.

Senior Special Assistant to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu on Agriculture, Akin Olotu, confirmed the killing to SaharaReporters.

“Yes, it’s true, three people were killed, the place is becoming like Zamfara. Those accusing the governor of ordering illegal occupants of the forest to vacate the place, I think they should be charged as accomplices,” Olotu told SaharaReporters.

“It obvious these bandits are ready for war. That’s why the governor said if you are a cattle rearer, let us know you, disclose your identity. Let us know where you come from, let us know who own your cattle. It’s so sad.”

Last month, Akeredolu, governor of the state, issued a seven-day quit notice to the herdsmen operating illegally in the state’s forest reserves.

Apart from ejecting the herdsmen, the governor also banned underage grazing, night grazing, and movement of cattle within the cities and on highways.

The governor had said, "Today, we have taken major steps at addressing the root cause of kidnapping, in particular, and other nefarious activities detailed and documented in security reports, the press, and debriefings from victims of kidnap cases in Ondo State.

"As the chief law and security officer of the state, it is my constitutional obligation to do everything lawful to protect the lives and property of all residents of the state. In light of the foregoing, the following orders are hereby issued: All forest reserves in the state are to be vacated by herdsmen within the next seven days with effect from today, Monday, January 18, 2021."

The issue generated an uproar and after a meeting with different stakeholders, Akeredolu asked herdsmen to register with the government so that they can operate unhindered in the forest reserves.

Whyem15:

National Security Adviser, Major-General Babagana Monguno (Rtd) is to lead a delegation of heads of federal law enforcement, security and intelligence agencies to townhall meetings in 6 geo-political zones.

The meetings which were agreed upon after his meeting with service chiefs and heads of other security agencies have a direct assessment of the security situation across the country, get feedback and elicit recommendations on the pathway to lasting peace and security in the country.

The first town hall meeting will hold in Kaduna State on Monday for the north-west geo-political zone. Those to attend the meetings are the 7 State Governors in the zone, traditional and religious leaders, lawmakers, non-governmental, youth and women groups.
