If you are interested in Moodle, then you should start learning Moodle now, because you can use your PHP Skill, I am working on a Moodle theme, but now that I am fully settled I will also create some Youtube videos.
Link to Moodle resources you have will be great abeg. I have few YouTube videos and a textbook.

Please do share the YouTube video when you are done.

When you are done with developing the theme, where do you sell, with Moodle or other market place.

I thought the possibility of proposals been seen is how fast one submits it. I didn't know the top guys are favoured irrespective of their proposal being submitted late.
yes that works when you are the first 2-3 to submit but once people with stronger profile start submitting yours starts to go down.

Okay, i'm still in disbelief though. It should be harder according to popular opinion.

Did you have to verify anything with a valid ID or something official. I haven't yet, and its fueling my disbelief

I believe that since they introduced 'paid connect' system, it has been easier to get account approved and yes i uploaded a valid ID, you will be asked to also, this will most likely be after you get your first job ( you will be asked to do video verification too), uploading ID and video verification is for 'verification' of account not 'approval' of account. Your account has already been approved

Yes they have relaxed the rejection rate. Next week I will drop some proposals and tips, however this is what also works, look for a category that makes sense, do a working example and add to your portfolio. They look at it alot.

Yes, at the early stage of your account, having Portfolio is important but once your profile has a lot of good reviews and earnings most clients won't look at portfolio again ( by portfolio i mean the one you will upload on your upwork profile), I haven't updated my portfolio in 3 years, infact what i have as portfolio is crap but i get at least 2 - 3 job invitations every other week. Infact right now my account is set to 'unavailable' because i don't want clients sending me job invites.

I don talk tire but people no dey hear word. Once you have learnt the basics find a niche. General software development doesnt pay except you are willing to go deep into two and start practicing all the data structures and super algorithms.

I am a jamstack Developer presently and have a full time job but I got a 1000 USD contract from upwork this past month for that jamstack. My own senior developer at work also gives me gigs outside work which he pays me daily for.

My own now na even to learn Salesforce because if I can get certified I can be earning as much as 2 million naira a month if I stay in Nigeria and target remote but I don't want to stay here.

Please what did you study in School sir?

Wow! You have gone far away from Marine Engineering. I'm about to be in my final year (500l) studying Mechanical Engineering. I want to delve into this field after my undergraduate. I'm currently learning python. Please, I would like you to guide me sir.

About me: I'm a top rated freelancer on upwork ( I'll be 'top rated plus' next week), I started freelancing on upwork 3 years ago and i can say i understand how it works.

( Link to my profile https://www.upwork.com/o/profiles/users/~01d63f13eaa3fa66d3/)

Wow... This is good! I've anticipated this for long. A group for Upwork Devs.
Please, can't we have a WhatsApp or Telegram group for this?

Why exactly do you people like moving everything to whatsapp and telegram? What can be discussed on those platforms that cannot be discussed here?

Please give us an example of how you'd write a proposal. Not just the explanation. Give a practical example.

There are some skills on upwork that are already saturated ( too many freelancers have the skill) , my advice to you is to learn a skill that's uncommon then create your profile using that skillset, there are high chances upwork will approve the account, when they do, update your profile with your main skillset. I am a software developer and some of the skills that i know aren't saturated on upwork are :- machine learning, deep learning, rust, julia, R. I know it's not easy learning this languages but you can create an upwork account with this languages the day you start to learn them ( then update your profile later to reflect your strong hold)

Upwork is one of the best freelancing platforms i have come across, in the past i tried fiverr, peopleperhour but bleh.

Well done bro. How about golang on upwork? Does this skill set allow for quick approval of one's application on upwork?

Here are some of mine that got me accepted or a feedback

Hi Ben, I am familiar with JavaScript very much however Symfony not so much but I really do have a great experience with PHP Frameworks and no problem, I am interested in this, however I am curious as to whether you are fetching a large ton of data all at once or if it is loaded on demand. Looking forward to hear from you so we can continue with this.

This one I was interested in building my profile and not cash but don't lowball yourself

Hi I am interested in this task, to be honest I have great experience with Vue and other tech, especially with my experience in Enterprise organisations but I am interested in this, because fixing bugs is what I do and also this is a good opportunity to work on my Upworks profile. So I am really dedicated and committed to work accurately on this because I need the reviews. I will be looking forward to hear from you and get rid of the issue should you find this proposal appealing. Thank you and stay safe

Just be direct, allso sometimes e dey out of your hands. They pick the best so portfolio works better

I know this is out of the blue, but can I have a tete-a-tete with you? It's with regards to programming. I really wanna delve into it, but I'm really confused.

For me I have noticed short and precise proposal works best, I will attach a few of my job-winning proposals below. In the past, I type really long proposals and before I click the send button, I will see that the client has either started interviewing someone or has hired someone, It's always painful spending 15 minutes typing a kick-ass proposal only to find out that the client has 'moved on', so I learnt to send short and precise proposals, I only write long proposals when i know that a lot of people won't apply to the job.

I could post more, but with these few images I have attached, you should have an idea of what I mean when I say short precise proposals, sometimes i make a lot of typos in the proposals but since it is not a writing job client won't look at that
