A female Student of Benue State University identified as Jessica Agee was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at her Gyado villa residence in Makurdi last night.

IDOMA VOICE reports that there were gunshots in the second campus of the university while final year students were taking their last paper on Monday.

According to an insider, the shooting was due to the ceasing of some exam slips belonging to suspected cultists who were taking their last paper in the Mass Communication department.

The source, who also sat for the exam, said some of the cultists came from outside the school and also celebrated the graduation of their members who are mostly members of the a popular confraternity with gunshots amidst chanting of ‘orientation’.

The graduating cultists, IDOMA VOICE gathered were promoted by virtue of their graduation to ‘Lords’ in the confraternity.

It took the timely intervention of the men of the Nigeria police for calmness to return to the campus.

But there were fears that rival cultists might later clash tonight in students’ lodges around Gyado Villa, Madam Saba, Opposite CHS, Behind Customary Court and other student dominated areas.

Eventually, the crisis crossed to Gyado Villa and Jessica was killed.

Aswear to God that north bank is something else and the worst part of it is that only north bank alone has two military barracks, 72 battalion and nasme barracks but yet the cult activities there is scary. Immediately after my school my mum told me that if i dont leave makurdi she would pack her things and go back to the village. I always tell guys and some of my friends that as a youth, you have no business staying in makurdi if you are not a cultist, student or doing serious business. In makurdi everybody is classify as a cultist. There is no middle ground. Being a jew man is even more dangerous than being a cultist, the kind of intimidation you will face nobody will tell you, you cant go to club, you cant move freely, if you are seen or toss a girl that her boyfriend is a cultist is either you are dead or you will become a parmenant office. You will never use a phone or go out with money because boys go the search you everyday and e get has them go search you reach if you no get money you go chop beating. I was born and brought up in north bank makurdi, i did my primary, secondary and university all in makurdi but i have to leave after much advice from my mum. Today must of my friend are gone but i am still alive. If you leave in mission ward you will understand what i am talking about.
